First time at tapestry! Four groups when we arrived. We were seated right away and were given time to order. The dim sum menu was limited but looked enticing. Tried the fresh Hmong rice roll & bit size dumpling. Ordered pho, bbq ribs, fried rice & seafood chow fun. Chow fun was soft & tasty but needed sauce & more seafood. Wife enjoyed the pho & son didn’t finish his dishes. One tea bag in a big kettle was not worth it. Still great atmosphere & friendly staff. Would definitely go back.
So my family and i decided to try this place out with our good friends. The cheif is one of our childhood friends. We tried some stuff and what i really enjoyed was the deep friend pork dumplings, the sauce was good. Not too over powering the dumplings and by itself taste great already and prefect seasonings. I got to say, the best thing i liked about this place is the pho, it is very basic, not too over powering of any ingredients, that when u add your soy sauce, fish sauce, ect. It truthly bring it to your taste. If you order the pho, you have to do with the beef rib. It will be worth it! The beef rib is just prefect, it is tender and falls of the bone and prefect with the pho. And it is so worth the cost.
Went here during the Grand Opening 2.10.18. I was very excited to try some dim-sum, but was severely disappointed. My party of five arrived at 6:20PM, and we finally got to placed our order at 6:45PM. It was a medium-size order that we placed. Never in my life have I waited for food this long with awful service. Three of the foods we ordered finally arrived roughly at 7:35PM. Holy cow, we waited 50 minutes for food that could've been done within 10 minutes. Granted, there were other customers here with 2 to as large as 17 people in a party. I couldn't believe how horrific the service was, the Tapestry was understaff with only one cook and two dim-sum chefs in the kitchen from what one of the servers told us. I noticed that a lot of the other customers were also looking around at what was going on as they were patiently waited for their food. We honestly could tell that the servers were a bit overwhelmed and frustrated with what was going on. After dining and waiting for 2 hours for the rest of our order, we decided to leave and pay for what we ate. There was no way that I was going to wait another hour for our order. They really need to step up their game in terms of service and staff. I wouldn't recommend this place for a quick bite or for casual dining.
All day dim sum. Not the freshest but it wasn't terrible. Prices were average.
I made plans to head here with friends and then saw the reviews after the fact. They made me nervous but I didn't want to hassle with trying to coordinate with everyone at the last minute to change them so we went ahead anyway. I am glad we did. The food was good and I loved the shrimp stuffed hot peppers. Some of my favorite dim sum dishes were not available but many were and as long as they have bbq pork buns I can stuff myself happily. My friends loved it too and one woman ordered an additional meal after trying hers so that she could take it home for a family member to try it later that night. The service we received was outstanding. Even after our bill was paid we continued to be waited on in a warm and friendly manner while we sat and chatted long after finishing our meal. It was so impressive that we gave a second tip to thank the woman for ensuring that we felt like welcome guests. I cannot wait to go back again and have another lunch planned with more friends already on the calendar.
I'm really surprised by all of the bad reviews that are on here. We went last night, were almost deterred by the bad reviews, but went anyway. It's not outstanding or anything but the flavors were good and the prices were very fair. The decor is really cool and it's a big space. The main negative thing was that everything has shrimp in it. Which Is fine for me but my wife hates shrimp. We ordered crispy pork dumplings and Hmong rice rolls. Both had shrimp in them but it wasn't listed as so on the menu. It's a good thing neither of us has a shellfish allergy!
Decide to go to this place because i saw a video of a chef that sound dedicated and experience. First impression, nice big clean restaurant, friendly greeting, went as a group of 10 we order every dim sum dish that was available, long wait remember people go to restaurant because they're hungry, foods was not great but consumables, only thing i kind of enjoy was the lotus sticky rice, chinese broccoli was horrible, all buns taste like the one you buy premade frozen at the grocery store then heat up yourself, salt & pepper tofu never made it to the table along with the pasta, all rolls was disappointing, dumpling was ok fried pork dumpling taste like fried eggs smother in oil, large salt & pepper squid, shrimp, pork dish all look and taste the same just different meat. Chicken feet was the worst! Taste like they been frozen for a long time. I'm all in for supporting my hmong people, but will probably never go back to this place at least not for dim sum.
Food was horrible . All though the host did mentioned they will provide the whole menu on their grand opening day. I feel like the menu was confusing in some way. Service could be better, my table was piled with dishes from the appetizer I had but the waiter didn’t bother to come take them. The menus were still sitting on my table also. my water cup was dirty, had some bad residue on it. You can hear the boss yelling at the cooks from the kitchen. Which is something the restaurant should keep to themselves. There were a lot of random people just hanging around the area where the kitchen is at, as if it was their office. Which was weird to me, and a eye sore to see. Again, the food seemed like it was a immature who cooked it. It feels as if they didn’t test the food before they decided to add it on the menu. And like I said the menu is confusing.
I hate to give a bad rating. The decor is wonderful and makes me want to come back but the food is just terrible. Worst than my moms! The dumplings are way too small for the price. The soy sauce that it comes with is deluded so it has a plain taste. The orange chicken tasted old and wasn't even orange. It was brown!! THE BEST THING I ATE WAS THE RICE... Change your cooks and you'll save your restaurant!
Had lunch here recently. Had the Tapestry pho. Ordered a large and it was huge! Broth was really good and the noodles and other stuff were tasty. The best part is that Tapestry is social enterprise that trains workers to get jobs in the restaurant industry. Always great when you can help do good while eating good food!
