I've been coming to this store for a few years. It's a great little shop with band shirts of all kinds Rush, Type O Negative, Pearl Jam. Friendly, helpful staff who like to chat music, but will still give you space to shop. Not too pricey.
My go to spot for T-shirts. Ted is not a formal or a place that sells suits. Distinctive t shirts are his claim to fame. I've gotten pieces from him that garner attention where I go. Check him out if your in need of a shirt with your favorite group on it. I have a few De La Soul tees from Ted
Ted's Formal Wear was honestly awesome. As someone who's style is nothing but band t's.... this was the almost the perfect spot.. just needed some SLAYER shirts. Other than that, best 200$ I've ever spent in NYC. For sure going to shop here every time I come to visit the in-laws.
Old man at the register was kind of rude and stand-offish. Felt like he didn’t like teenagers shopping inside
Awesome selection of band tshirts. He’s got stuff in here that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. Prices are firm, but he’s got a box of sale items for cheap. Shop is named after the original Ted’s: his fathers suit store. He’s carrying on the name, but in his own craft.
Classic band tees, reasonable prices.
Thanks to James and Karla live stream on YouTube...I ordered 2 classic Rock Tshirts on the phone shipping to me with Charles the owner ..
Whilst I was chaperone to 3 aspiring Broadway talents attending a 5 day Ripley Grier workshop in the Theater District, I was in search of rock themed tees as a gift for my son. To my dismay and chagrin the tourist trap gift shops here in the grimy times square area are completely bereft of rock tees, but stocked to the gills with small replicas of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. A maps googling of 'rock tees' lands several potential places of business, the least promising of which was a place calling itself 'ted's formal wear', sounding like a tuxedo rental shop. The name belies the true nature of the beast, as was revealed by the storefront photo thanks Google. So I jump the orange line south, and after walking in the wrong direction for 15 minutes thanks Google - am I the only person who is rendered directionally illiterate by the walking directions on Google maps?, I somehow arrive at the store. Before entering I am beconed by the owner of the adjoining business, an older bearded gentleman in semiformal business attire and a yarmulke who is in need of assistance in raising the security gate of his storefront. I knew I wasn't doing all of those push-ups in vain. I ultimately enter the store, and it is lit-tra-lee rock tee Nirvana. I found the tee I wanted, and if I wasn't needed back in the theater district in an hour I probably would have bought 5 more I didn't need. The owner was friendly and helpful. Best $30 I ever spent. Everyone should go to this store.
Customer for 3+ years. If you’re looking music tees, this is the place. Lots of bands/groups/artists from multiple genres. Everything is sized and alphabetized, which makes the browsing and selection process super-easy.
