Immerse yourself in the diverse, festive and welcoming culture and cuisine of Teff, Stamford's first Eritrean and Ethiopian restaurant.
To those behind Teff, this restaurant is our contribution to the Stamford community. It is a representation of region of African filled with history that has found it’s way to our great town. Teff is a place where you can come and discover the beauty and the joy of the cuisine of Eritrea and Ethiopia, two small East African nations large with culture, pride and love.
Situated at the entry point of Stamford’s West Side Community, Teff holds an exquisite view of the Mill River Playground and just a short walk away from the newly developed Mill River Park. The restaurant’s interior is reminiscent of the beautiful landscape of Eritrea and Ethiopia with its dusty-colored flooring and olive green walls. The walls represent the color of the Teff grain in it’s earliest harvesting stages. Exquisite photographs as well as culturally-significant elements adorn the walls allowing patrons to take a full glimpse inside these usually unknown countries.
Our kitchen, led by owner and chef, Hadas Mengesha, creates a multitude of dishes catering to meat lovers, vegan observes and those who like food with a little bit of kick. Finish off your delicious plates with fresh coffee specially grown and imported from Ethiopia.
Teff is owned by Hadas and her husband, Mekonen, who have been natives of Stamford since 1992 and arrived in America in the early 1980’s from Ethiopia. Previous owners of a popular deli in the same space since 2001, Hadas, Mekonen, and family are thrilled to share their culture with their community.
