Tellus Science Museum

Why can't this museum be closer to Atlanta/Decatur! Tellus has a fabulous gem collection. My daughter (8 years old) loves the gem mining and fossil hunting activities they have here. They also have a decent exhibit of antique cars and planes. Their most interactive attraction/indoor playground (My Big Backyard) is probably my daughter's favorite after the gem/fossil activities. We have not had a chance to check out the planetarium or the observatory. Overall, this museum is smaller than some others, and we may get bored with the exhibits that are here. But for now, we have a membership and are willing to drive 45 minutes to come spend the day at Tellus.

What an amazing gem that Cartersville has!! We spent a few hours here and still didn’t get to see everything. We absolutely love this place! It was great to have a 7 year old and also our teenager! It was also very interesting for adults! This is such a great adventure for any age! I have been telling so many friends and family members about it. We can’t wait to revisit the museum!! I would highly recommend a visit!

We joined as a family for the Tellus Science Museum and it has definitely paid off. Our children love the various exhibits they have throughout the year and as a family that loves education, we love exploring the things that they offer year to year. We are especially excited that this year they have partnered with my husband's company, Toyo Tires NA, for their Family Day Event. It will be a great amount of fun.

Our visit on 7 April, 2018 was superb. Entrance fees are very reasonable for a museum of this quality and it was a nice surprise to find parking to be free. We really enjoyed the various displays, especially the Weinman Mineral & Fossil Galleries. Had a great time in the Fossil Dig & Gem panning area and found the host of our planetarium show (Tonight's Sky) to be refreshingly entertaining. All staff members were very friendly, professional and pleasant. The grounds is quite beautiful with thick green grass and strategically placed colorful flowers. Trees provided just the right amount of shade in walking paths with adequate seating areas where one can just relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the surroundings. There is also an area designated for picnicking which we highly recommend. The convenience to Interstate 75 made our arrival and departure very easy and we will most definitely visit again. Thanks to all for a great family-friendly time!

Tellus offers such a fun time no matter who you're going with! The staff are very knowledgeable and the exhibits are wonderful! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something to do in this area.
