Clean, friendly staff. Clean bathrooms. Quiet. Easy to get work done. Computers are up to par. I'm giving them a special shout out for how they took care of people, allowing them to still use the library during covid. The lines were long, but the compassion and patients of staff, were far superior
Nice space with power options for all desks. Study rooms and specific spaces for differing ages. The only drawback is that many transient people come here and stay for a long time.
My daughter was very excited to get her own library card and everyone there was great!
Beautiful library at a great location. The service is usually good and the requested books area is well organized and easy to navigate. Great place to read and get some work done.
Excellent customer experience. Super helpful resolving an issue with my library card. Very clean and orderly. Staff ensured all customers entered with mask on and kept it on for the duration of the visit.
This library is fine but I wish the librarians would enforce the rules and library etiquette that is lacking after school. My kids come here between school and evening classes to try and focus on homework but they can’t because of the volume and distractions of the middle schoolers fooling around and eating.
Small but great library with lots of sunlight and sitting areas. Downstairs is mostly children's books. Upstairs has magazines, study rooms, and group study areas. The emphasis in this modern library seems to be a warm and welcoming feeling. Sometimes, I wish there were more books. Luckily, DC Public Library has an excellent book exchange system. I am probably just nostalgic for the old brutalist libraries of yore, square and boring, but stuffed to the gills with books.
I have tried and tried to give this library a chance. My very first impression was bad. While signing up for a library card we were treated as though we are on death row. I had a young school aged child with me. A babysitter went in to get some books appropriate for a 2nd grader. She was instructed by the library to check out Goose Bumps and many books that were not age apporpriate. When she asked what was good for a 2nd grader she was told, "Well, I don't know but kds this age don't read books with pictures." Actually, they do! Every time I have been to this branch there are homeless people out front and inside. They are locked inside the restrooms talking to themselves. They are sleeping and have their large bags with them. They are not reading or using the library. Tons of middle schoolers congregate in the vestibule, cursing and eating, throwing trash. They also congegegate upstairs. No one says anything to them at all. They are loud, obnoxiosu, and I highly doubt they have library cards. Most of the transients in there don't strike me as having library cars. Hey. it's perfectly OK! The last I checked libraries are to sleep in and bathe! As someone who reads A LOT and supports public libraries I was disgusted beyong belief today. There was no seating at 1 pm. Because I have a child and frequent the children's section I sat there today with a biography. There were 4 tables with 16 empty seats and another 8 seats on the other side. I had not even sat down for 2 minutes when this is what happened.... The children's librarian whom have spoke to before said, "Do you have a child with you? If you don't you need to move out of the children's section. You are taking up space for chidren!!!!" Toddlers are taking naps at 1 pm. Pre schoolers are in school, along with school aged children. I wasn't loitering, I had a book out. Unlike the people sleeping or playing on their phones I was reading. This branch should be ashamed of how they act. The DC Public Library System should be shamed of this branch. As someone who has just moved into the city I will NEVER enter this branch again or any other again.
New modern and sleek facilities. I joined my friend and her pre-schooler for a book drop-off after school and found myself wandering up to the adult's section. It's been years since I last was in a library and I could just feel my brain charging and getting enthused at that topic areas and reading corners. This branch is superb as it offers quiet individual study rooms that you can rent for up to 3 hours at a time. For small local orgs or clubs the library also offers meeting rooms for rent.
Wonderful space with light and quiet reading and work areas. Extremely helpful staff.
