Teton Rock Gym

I am an intermediate climber and was in Jackson for the weekend and heard about this place. I went Friday night at 830 only to find out they close at 9. I ended up just checking it out that night and then went back the next day. When I got there, I was greeted enthusiastically and felt immediately welcome. I then went on to begin climbing with my partner and instantly fell in love. The gym is not set with the typical indoor decimal system but instead is set to feel more realistic as if it were set by outdoor standards. I only used their top rope routes, which come equipped with Gri Gri belay systems. I was unfamiliar with them as I had only used ACT and was confused at first but with some helpful instruction, I picked it up within 10 minutes. I will say that the space is smaller than it looks but they maximize it so well it doesn’t matter. Also beware that since it is set to outdoor standards do not expect to feel easy on a 5.10 which feels closer to a 5.11b at other gyms. All in all it is a great gym and I had a blast blowing away the afternoon and progressing at an astonishing rate. Highly recommended!

The Teton Rock Gym might be the best way to spend an afternoon with kids. We went with our 6, 9 and 13 year old kids. They had a great time. they learned to belay and boulder. The place is clean, with hard routes and easy routes. And best of all, it's comparatively cheap for a full-day pass. It cost the same as a 2-hour session costs in any other city!
