I have studied at The Actor's Lab for years & I can say without hesitation that it is one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I am constantly challenged to not only be a better actor/artist through the consistent honing of my craft, I am challenged to be a better human & to think bigger than ever. My journey from a green actor with a dream to "The Voice" stage, "Nashville" & many other projects & commercials of all sorts, began at The Actor's Lab. Through an organized approach to the craft & business of acting, a system of goal setting & accountability, J.D. Lewis is a teacher that holds his students to a high standard and sets that standard by example. If you are serious about the business of acting, this is the place for you.

It is not hyperbole to say that The Actor's Lab dramatically changed my life. Through JD's inspirational -- and yes, intense--coaching and his ability to identify and nurture my unique talents, I now enjoy creatively fulfilling work as an internationally produced playwright and performer. JD demands the very best from each of his students. When I started with the Actor's Lab, I was a mom with two small kids who just wanted to reconnect with my acting days. What I got was so much more. I found my voice as an artist. Each week, I immersed myself in The Lab's riveting, challenging and genuinely supportive atmosphere. JD expected -- no demanded -- that each of us bring our boldest, most fierce selves to our work. And it didn't matter whether I was performing that night or not. The monologues, skits, cold reads for the camera, etc. were always engaging because you knew that the actors were putting themselves out there--no hiding, no faking it. You brought your A game or you didn't stick around. JD pushed me to dig deeper, live bigger--and I will forever thank him for it.

Went on a three-day Artists Weekend retreat for actors, which was hosted by acting coach, J.D. Lewis, founder of The Actor's Lab. The premise behind this weekend was one of leveraging absolute self-worth. There, I noted J.D. as tireless in encouraging his students to break past any personal and professional barriers that might be keeping them from their ultimate success. This same commitment is mirrored in his acting classes …

I used to study with JD Lewis in Charlotte. He's a very toxic person that creates a personality cult around himself but if you're not one of the "chosen", he will insult, mock and disrespect you in front of the class. He is NOT a safe person. It took me years to undo his negative teaching style. Plus, he really never was successful as an actor but bills himself as some super well-known and productive teacher. On IMDb he has old day player/guest star credits from the 80s & early 90s. He is truly the epitome of those who can't do, teach.

3 1/2 years ago I walked into the Lab with a dream of a second career. Because of JD Lewis and the family at the Lab that dream has quickly turned into reality. JD will push you to be your very best.
