What a wonderful experience! I was recommended by MaeMe Boutique to come here to get my wedding dress altered and I’m so thankful that they recommended me here. The staff are wonderful people, very friendly and professional. The receptionists always help remind me when’s my next appointment are and let’s me know what alterations I had done that day. They are very thorough. Fatima is the best person I’ve ever worked with. She has expert skills, very professional, and detailed oriented. She’s kind, caring, and very lovely to work with. I absolutely lover her! I completely trust her to anyone who needs help altering their clothing. She did an amazing job on my wedding dress and I highly recommend her to everyone. This is literally the best place to get your dresses or formal clothing altered. The staff are all friendly people and professional. I definitely recommend everyone to go here! Thank you to the staff at Alteration Shoppe for my wonderful experience as a bride. You guys are the best!
I had been here years ago and had a good experience. This time however I was not satisfied with the result. The hemming was fine, but the rest was not at all correct. I requested the chest area of my bridesmaid dress to be taken in, the tailor had said she would take in the arms and it would fit better. It did, but I couldn't move my arms and it was an off the shoulder drapey sleeve. I asked her to let some of it out to which she agreed. When I picked it up, the arms were just as tight as they were when she pinned them the first time. There were also spots on on the back of my dress. I told them my concerns and the manager/owner ? said they would look into it for me. Well, when I went the next time, she did not let out the sleeve some like I thought but just undid everything she did the first time. So now I have been charged for her to do an alteration incorrectly, and then just completely undo it and bringing me back to the starting point. The manager/owner not sure but she seemed to be a supervisor tried to tell me the spots on my dress were just rain. I didn't appreciate trying to be convinced it was rain when even if it was raining - I did not walk into the place, check in, take my clothes off, unwrap the dress from the plastic hanging bag, and put it on all while my fingers were soaking wet from rain. It was just a ridiculous excuse. So I was charged $90 for a job that was only partially done. So disappointed and was hoping to use them for my wedding dress but definitely will not be! A waste of money.
Had my wedding dress altered here and had a great experience. All the seamstresses were incredibly friendly and my dress fit perfectly!
They definitely do a good job on your alterations, but they are not cheap. It seems to be the go-to place for wedding dress alterations.
The Alteration Shoppe people did such an excellent job on my wedding dress. I had a super heavy ball gown that needed a lot of alterations and everything went wonderful. I am impressed. Would definitely recommend them.
I brought my wedding dress here on the recommendation of MaeMae Bridal. I am very happy with the job they did on my dress. Fatima did excellent work with adding some beading and making it look like it was part of the dress. I would use them again and recommend them.
The work they did on my gown was amazing, but the customer service was less than stellar. I called to make schedule my first fitting and the girl who answered the phone was rude about the timeline prior to my wedding. My gown came in about 6 weeks after it was promised by the bridal shop so I had a feeling I would be working at a rush I had 10.5 weeks from the day my dress came in to my wedding day and due to my work schedule, I couldn't go in for my first fitting for another week after that so there was no need to add insult to the whole process and cause more stress. All that said my dress was still ready for pick up 4 weeks prior to my wedding date and was perfect.
Hillary and her team are AMAZING. I couldn't have imagined a better group to be a part of my wedding day. Olga and Blanca helped with much of my tailoring; they were wonderful ladies who made me cry after my final fitting with their love and kindness. Honestly, I've never enjoyed getting tailored, but I know where I'll be bringing all my clothes! Thank you so much ladies!
LISTEN. The Alteration Shoppe - the manager and all of the seamstresses- will take care of you like you would not believe. They want you to be comfortable, they want you to look phenomenal, and they want you to have a good experience. My time here was just as good, if not better, than my time actually choosing my dress over at MaeMe. Call them now. Book your appointment. You will not regret it.
I can not brag enough on The Alteration Shoppe in Metairie! To give you some background on my wedding dress experience.. I did not purchase a wedding dress from The Bridal Boutique by MaeMe, I purchased from a entirely different bridal boutique a well known boutique on the northshore. I went to this certain boutique because I have read and heard such amazing things, but that is not the experience I had. I am a plus size bride, so being comfortable and wearing something that is flattering was the most important thing to me for my wedding day. I told the bridal boutique that I bought my dress from, the only stipulation I had when buying a dress was that I wanted it to have sleeves to cover my arms. I was assured that no matter what dress I bought I could have sleeves fabricated, so they didn’t want to limit my selection to just to the ones with sleeves. They also told me they worked very closely with a seamstress and she did sleeves for them quite frequently. THEY ASSURED ME I COULD HAVE SLEEVES. Long story short i trusted them, and I bought a dress without sleeves. I was given a number to the seamstress they raved so much about, to have sleeves fabricated. I call the seamstress and tell her that a certain bridal boutique referred me, and that I needed sleeves made. The seamstress proceeded to tell me that she was in the process of moving store front’s so she didn’t have time to make sleeves. I was so upset, and so scared that I would not find anyone to help me with this. I was told about the Alteration Shoppe in Metairie, even though I live on the Northshore I didn’t care, I would make the drive. I can not tell you enough how glad I am that the other seamstress was not available. I called The Alteration Shoppe and spoke with Hillary. I told Hillary the background story like you’ve read above, Hillary told me not to panic and asked me to send her a picture of my dress. Once she saw a picture she assured me they would be able to do it. That was about 2 months ago. Fast forward to now, and I’m about to go to my last appointment. I have had a total of 3 appointments so far all of them have been amazing. I have literally had a team of people each time working on my sleeves, making sure they are perfect! They have made sure all the details are just right, details that you and I normal people wouldn’t even notice. My seamstress is Julia, and she is the sweetest, most talented seamstress. I am so grateful for The Alteration Shoppe. So grateful to work with such amazing people like Hillary and Julia, and the lady that also helps all the seamstress's do what they do, she’s amazing too. Oh and to top it off their pricing is so afforable I can not say thank you enough to this amazing business, and the the amazing people who make the business what it is today. I would give The Alteration Shoppe a 12/10 review if I could. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place.
