Visited last weekend as our daughter is doing an internship in DC. It was close to our Airbnb and just wanted to stop for drinks. Next think we knew we were having the best time with both the fellow customers and bartenders. Good folks. Also had some great drinks. We only ate the fried pickles were typical, but fine.
Great local sports bar with good food options at reasonable prices. My husband and I come here regularly and always have a great time. Burgers are always delicious, I had the salmon burger last visit and it was good. Friendly staff.
Grifter takes advantage of low-information folks who don't live in DC - news at 11. Used to be my neighborhood spot until the owner decided he was more interested in begging for money to "fight the power", which he didn't do at all. By all accounts, he pocketed tens of thousands of dollars, lost their ABRA license, closed the shop for months, and left town to do interviews with talking heads. But by all means, tourists, please come into Northeast DC to pay $14 for a hamburger so you can tell your buddies back home that you supported a real patriot. The concept used to be how the BIG BOARD beer prices would change to reflect supply and demand. The actuality is that the beer prices hover within a quarter of each other and never really change substantively. Politics aside, it's not a good deal. Catfish bites are decent - too bad I won't be back to have them.
Good food and good service... it's a small bar with limited seating area. The food was good, I came here looking for the Jalisco Frito, it was good but not great. They have brunch with unlimited Mimosas until 3pm for $12 which isnt bad at all. It's good bar food for sure
Amazing burgers! The toppings were honestly pretty lacking, but the meat was to die for! Will definitely be going back again just for that. Just ask for extra toppings!
Really excellent burger and the two guys running the place really get the concept of low-key, super friendly customer service.
Has turned into a tourist trap. Bummer because it used to be pretty good local option a few years ago. Unfortunately it went completely off the rails. The fact it’s basically empty all the time tells you all you need to know
One of the best Burgers I've had all year; got The New York, medium rare and solid order. Beer prices vary on demand which is a cool stick.
Finally made it to this fine establishment after reading about the true patriotism of the freedom-loving owner. God took care of them, as Eric stood for what he's about, being a restaurant open to all who eat good food. Being a D.C. native, this touched me deeply. The nice thing is the food is yummy and the service was the best. Bill upstairs made us feel at home. Meeting Eric was an honor and a treat. Thank you, The Big Board, for giving me a new go-to burger spot in D.C.. And thanks for the gluten-free bun!! See y'all soon. :-
The burgers here are cooked great! Got mine rare and it came out there’s a market board for beer which I’ve never seen before but there wasn’t much of a crowd so didn’t get to see how that worked, overall great place to go
