The Boat Locker

About

We’re crazy about sailing and getting out on the water. And we’ve got a massive showroom filled floor-to-ceiling with boats to prove it.

Story

Since 1957, Boat Locker (formerly Larson's Locker for those of you who remember) has been Fairfield County's premiere boat dealership.

Over the 57 years serving the sailing community we have grown a staff with vasts amount of knowledge and resources.

We boast a 8,000 square foot showroom with 28 foot ceilings, allowing us to display our boats rigged indoors year round. Not only does this give us enough room to present our large range of dinghies, but it also leaves room for Hobie's incredible line of peddling kayaks. With paddleboards to fill the gaps. We tender a large range of apparel to ensure the safety and comfort of all our customers.

Our entire staff enjoys demo days, where we get to play and tinker with all the amazing "toys" we have to offer. This allows us to learn all the nuances of the boats, kayaks, and paddleboards that a spec sheet can't teach us. We strongly believe that all of our products should be enjoyable, easy, and on the edge of innovation. We invite you to come in and try out one of our many dinghies, kayaks, or paddleboards.

With the recent revamp of our website in late 2014 we were looking to provide our customer with a smooth and simple Boat Locker experience. This has allowed us to fulfill customer orders at an unprecedented rate, with orders going out same day and arriving next day.

We have continued to evolve as time has progressed. Witnessing Hobie Cat diversify, new performance dinghies come into play, and streamlining our customer experience to suit today's needs.

Outfitting sailors since 1957, with no end in sight.

I started shopping at Boat Locker because they have better prices than many of the other dealers on-line but much better prices than my local dealer. I live in Florida. Scott Hardy is amazing. Every time I email him a question, he responds the same day….often within a couple of hours and even on his days off. When I’ve needed a hard to find part, he finds a way to get me one. I honestly cannot say enough nice things about Scott. He truly goes above and beyond for his customers. Boat Locker is my go-to dealer…..all the way from Florida!
Used to be a great store with great support. Unfortunately it is no longer the case. Can’t get anything, eaves a return call. I’m so sorry big lose to all your costumers of many years
Great experience start to finish. Scott was very responsive and got back to me quickly about the boat I was looking for. He worked with me so we could pick it up within a few days and checked all the rigging to make sure it was properly set up. He even helped us get it on top of the truck. I would definitely buy from The Boat Locker again.
I placed an online order and paid extra for expedited shipping. When it wasn't shipped on time I called and talked to Scott who apologized and said it would be sent out the next day and arrive on Thursday. When it didn't arrive on Thursday, I called and talked to Scott and he agreed to refund my $25 expedited shipping. He did not refund the shipping charge. The service and follow-through at this place is not reliable or acceptable -- I recommending avoiding.
Company is top notch and that starts with the leadership. First met Scott around 1988 when I had bought a used boat elsewhere but he helped me set it up and charged only for parts. Since then I have purchased many parts, had rigging work done and bought a new Laser and a new Sunfish from The Boat Locker. I have found Scott and his team responsive and he meets all his commitments. Excellent follow through. Importantly the staff shows the same commitment and attention to detail as Scott. I have recommended the company to friends and continue to recommend it to experienced people who know what they are looking for, and to the beginner who wants to start off right. I have found the people at The Boat Locker to be honest, conscientious, and put a strong effort into helping their customers.
No doubt the shopping experience is much better if you're physically in the United States. I ordered a sailing helmet in Feb 2021 and I have yet to receive it despite my attempts at communicating with the staff at The Boat Locker. All but the first couple of emails were unanswered. PayPal was no help in arranging for a refund. I'd suggest that you shop elsewhere unless you are located in the US. I'm in Singapore.
I would consider myself a highly educated boat user and buyer, Scottthe owner is super knowledgeable, professional and great to work with. His staff is the same - just recently Carrie helped me with a small order, delivered quickly and it was the right thing. Thanks!
Scott's a great guy. Has a large inventory of Hobie parts and an interesting shop. I'd recommend giving him a call for sailboat/kayak needs
Scott and Rick are terrific! Great selection, good pricing and unmatched service at the time of sale and every service I've had thereafter. They just helped me move my Hobie kayaks from the beach to storage -- above and beyond every time. We are lucky to have Boat Locker our area!
Scott was wonderful to work with and literally went the extra 300 miles to set us up with a boat, trailer and more. We are new to sailing and he made everything easy for us! Highly recommend The Boat Locker!
