My mother in law was transferred in at 1 o'clock today, and already 6:30pm she has had a bad experience with nurse assistant. She had hip surgery and after 5 days in the hospital was put into a chair for a few hours. When she asked the assistant for help getting into bed, the assistant after she left once and had to be called back with the light quickly jerked her legs up instead of lifting them slowly like she knew she was supposed to. She claimed it would hurt her back too much to do it properly and threatened my mother in law with blatantly avoiding her emergencies. "No one will come" After the main nurse was informed, the assistant still came back to threaten my MIL again saying she won't answer any emergencies. The night nurse just got on shift and said "hey I'm your night nurse. Also your emergency light was on, did you need anything? I just saw it." And it had been pressed hours beforehand. I pray when she actually starts her physical therapy tomorrow, they will treat her the way they should.
The facility is nice, but lacks compassion for the patients. While I was there a bathroom call light was going for quite se time in a patients room within view of the nurses station, while three nurses were there, and none of them answered the light. They were too busy cheering on one of the nurses that was on the floor doing push ups
The staff here is wonderful! When a loved one was forwards the end of their life the staff made them feel comfortable and responsive to help in any way possible. They were kind and helpful and accommodating to guests even in Covid.
This place is amazing . My father had a TBI with stroke , and heart attack he was in the hospital 4 months. It was bad to sum it up . The center at Lowry really cares about the People that they are providing care for . They have provided Speach Therapy, Occupational therapy. And Physical therapy for my father. He is basically learning how to walk again among other things . The therapists are kind and take their time to provide the best services. The nurses and Cna’s are attentive to the people and are kind and do their jobs well . The building is well maintained and clean . The Maintenance staff are doing a great job and it shows the equipment is in working order . I have spent every day here with my father for a few weeks so I get to see what goes on . They are fully staffed !! And like all places there can be issues but by far the best thing about this place is that if there is an issue every person working here will do everything thing in their power to solve it . And if they can’t the directors do . My father is still at the center and improving more daily . I highly recommend this place . Thank you to all the staff for their continued care for my father . And I truly can say you are setting him up for Success.
I did a lot of research online and a lot of tours to find a rehab center that would be a great fit for my mom who is on Medicare/Medicaid and needed wound care. I initially surpassed this place because it didn’t have much reviews or ratings because the facility is so new. This place was very nice; from talking to the liaison, Chris, to the tour that was given by Wendy. The Centre at Lowry is a beautiful facility; it is very light, very clean, and has a hotel feel to it so the patients won’t feel they are in a rehab/hospital. Each room has its own private bathroom and a window with a nice view. The rehab gym is amazing. It is very large with an area where the patients can learn to work around home again; learning to get in and out of bed, cooking, etc. I love how the doors lock after 8pm, for safety reasons. You can still visit loved ones 24/7, you just have to be buzzed in by the nurses station after hours. They also offer dialysis transportation for patients! With all that said, the downside of The Centre at Lowry; the food wasn’t very good and, although the staff was very friendly, there seemed to be some sort of discord amongst themselves. My mom was almost given the same medications sooner than scheduled a few times. Thank goodness my mom pays attention. Again, staff was very nice, but you can tell staff was unhappy with how things operated.
I've been working with Michelle, one of their Social workers and she makes sure their discharged patients have a safe plan to go home. She is very thorough and communicates in a timely manner to ensure the transition home is seamless! I'm so happy they have someone as efficient and compassionate as Michelle on thier team!
My Dad was in there for a broken femur and covid. All three of us who are looking after him, agreed that he needed to stay in there longer. His case worker, Danielle, was hard to get a hold of. And so in the end he was released and needs help doing everything like getting dressed and getting off of the toilet. I'm now afraid that he'll be by himself and unable to call for help.
Excellent care and management! My 82 year mother was in The Center for 7 weeks because of a fall with a head injury unable to eat or walk. She came out walking with a walker and eating solid foods. All of the therapist, nurses and aides were excellent. It was the best choice we made for her.
I placed my father here after a stroke. Facility is bright and clean. Physical and Occupational Therapy was top notch. Nurses and CNA's were attentive and caring. The reason for only 3 stars was the Administration, which leaves a lot to be desired. Marilyn, our case worker, dropped the ball on discharge, then acted petulant and disrespectful toward me, suggesting that we all hadn't agreed on the discharge date, when even staff in the room at our Care Conference agreed we had. Dealing with her was unpleasant and stressful. The Executive Director didn't bother to return a call I had placed to her, even though Center materials state that if you have any problems, just call!
Unfortunately I cannot give The Center a positive rating and I would discourage the use of this facility. My Dad has been a patient at The Center for over a month and while there are some individual nurses and caregivers who are skilled and caring, the administration and care-coordinating is poor. In addition, there have been some general problems overall that have significantly affected my Dad's health. I will list: 1. My Dad was not weighed for approximately 3 weeks despite it being a part of his care plan to weigh him weekly and he lost approximately 7 pounds without anyone noticing. Once this was determined, Ensure was ordered but not delivered. The only Ensure he got was provided by his family. 2. At one point, my Dad's behavior changed over a couple of days and he was lethargic and excessively sleepy. We notified the nurses as well as the doctors on call. It took multiple phone calls, emails, texts and conversations to get the appropriate tests ordered to determine if he had an infection---and, some of the samples were lost which resulted in an additional 24 hours of time wasted. And then, the staff at the Center did not notice flagged abnormal test results. Had we not been extremely assertive and demand appropriate care, it would have taken 5 days to diagnoses him with an infection that would have by that point likely landed him back in the hospital. 3. There have been multiple instances where my Dad was transferred to a wheelchair and left for an entire day without anyone noticing that he was fatigued and uncomfortable and needed to get back into bed. Eventually, we got to the point where we have made sure that he is put back in bed before one of us leaves from a visit. 4. A totally dysfunctional discharge system. We were notified at 5pm on a Thursday that he would be discharged on Monday. We expressed our concern that this would be difficult to arrange with such short notice over a weekend. We were assured it would not be a problem for his wheelchair and hospital bed to be delivered to the assisted living facility that he is moving to. While the wheelchair did arrive very promptly, the process of delivering the bed has been extremely disorganized ultimately resulting in a failed attempt to move him on the designated day because the bed was not delivered. The case manager assigned to my Dad was incapable and unwilling to adequately and appropriately plan and support his discharge. In fact, she has not seen my Dad since he was admitted more than a month ago and she communicated false information to the staff of the assisted living center that he is going to. She did not follow up with the bed delivery company and instead left it up to us to spend the day making phone calls and trying to determine when the bed would arrive. As a result of this situation, my Dad was re-admitted to the The Center for an additional day. This has added significant stress to an already stressful situation. This case manager has done the bare minimum and shows no true concern or ownership at all for the process or the patient. She blamed us for the mess-up due to one missed phone call on Friday at 5:15pm. Very disappointing and very frustrating. 5. There is at least one medication on my Dad's medication list that was ordered while he was at The Center and never communicated to us, his family. And, there was a separate medication that was ordered to be discontinued by my Dad's personal physicians which was apparently not discontinued despite an official order of discontinuation. These medication errors and the lack of communication around medications are extremely serious and pose a great concern for other errors that we do not even know about. 6. There have been multiple errors regarding food service. My Dad has missed multiple meals because he requires help eating and no one came to help him, even though it was in his care plan. Or if they did show up, it was an hour later and the food was cold and unappetizing. I have met the space limit here although I have more to list.. . .
