An upper mid scale hotel right in the center of Atlanta's convention scene. A short walk to many dining options. The hotel itself is well maintained but noticeably worn warped wallpaper/paint and cracked tiles prevalent throughout. The dining area and pool/garden are top notch for the price point. Two noticeable negatives came from my visit. 1, the parking area and transit to the hotel is atrocious. It's a several minute walk through the unimproved and non wheelchair friendly garage to get to the parking hotel entrance. Once you have lugged your wheelchair up and down stairs due to the lack of ramps you will reach a door that signs direct you to where a faded sign will inform you that no entry is allowed. You will then need to backtrac, and if you are wheelchair bound cross into the street to enter the hotel. 2, the service elevators are loud and disconcerting. The doors pop and bang as well as opening before the elevator has stopped. Overall the experience was mostly positive. A good stay for an on site convention. Walkability: Many attractions nearby but very hilly.
Pool was out of use and when we enquired we were promised it would be available the following day but it was not. We were offered complimentary breakfast on our last day to compensate which was nice and unasked for. But on the morning there were issues and they tried to make us pay for three breakfast. The lady on reception that morning was rude. Service in the bar was slow both evenings and the barman was dismissive, prices high. Waitresses serving tables for dinner were nice and cheerful. Our rooms were awful: completely dark as the windows opened to a covered patio. The decor was outdated. The photos online do not represent what you find there. This hotel has clearly seen better days. Location was the only good thing in terms to walking to places. There was always a queue in reception.
The Sheraton is pretty much a motel 6 with a little bit of tile and a breakfast. Valet parking is 45 for the night and self parking is 35. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra 10 bucks as you will not find a parking space that is 1 available and 2 within 10 minutes of walking distance. The staff at the Sheraton are all pretty rude and there’s nothing you can do about it. Atlanta is a s#}+hole city and the people are reflective of it. Don’t expect more than you’re going to get and you won’t ever be disappointed. The bed was fine. The shower absolutely sucks and the thermostat didn’t work. Breakfast is $15. A person. Will I stay at the Sheraton again? Regretfully so.
Stayed here for Worlds 2022 weekend, was very pleased with our stay overall as the staff were all very nice even if they were busy with something else at the moment they still took the time to help us out. Rooms were very nice too, loved the fact they had 2 chairs; only downside we experienced was the service at the breakfast buffet was kind of meh, only saw a server to give us our check and that was it. Overall, would stay again if we are in downtown, very walkable to most places!
The stay was not all bad, but I wouldn't stay again. The pool was closed and that was very disappointing because we had chose the hotel just for the pool. The room was pretty dirty and needed a deep clean. The air was broke and the room temp was either intolerable freezing or hot, humid and smelled a bit mildewy, no in between. The hall smelled bad. The neighborhood was pretty rough, a lot of homeless, so much panhandling, trash and drug use. Non homeless people were smoking pot in the parking lot and parking garage too. I was with kids so it was not somewhere I felt comfortable walking around. Not far away, in other parts of downtown there is still homelessness but not to the degree it was near this hotel. I suggest staying even closer to the aquarium if you want to be able to walk around more safely downtown. It was hard to feel safe coming and going and the valet staff wouldn't let you use the front of the hotel to leave the car for a couple minutes. All that said...front desk staff were super friendly and really helpful during the whole stay. The staff at the restaurant, coffee bar and gift shop....all super nice and helpful. The elevator was really fast all day long, it was easy to come and go within the hotel. Room service came every day we were there and made beds, took trash and did a good job, most hotels don't provide daily room service anymore. If it wasn't for the great staff the review would be lower. The staff really did make the overall stay pretty nice. Also, check in and out was very fast, and the pillows were hands down the most comfortable hotel pillows I've ever come across.
The location is great, close to the city center. The service is really good and helpful. The only thing is the outdated decoration like something in late 1980s and early 90s. I am sure many may like the style but personally I prefer modern and renovated interior design. But the room is clean and has no smell. And the price is very affordable. I think it is a solid choice
We stayed downtown for the weekend in mid November. There was a heated wow up to 10 ft. deep pool that was great for families & you could have poolside rooms as well. The lounge was closed due to staffing issues which we would've really wanted to enjoy. I can't rate the service really because other than checking in and out, we had no interactions. Rooms: The rooms were clean & nice. I put the roses myself lol wink! Nearby activities: It was very nice, very convenient to eateries & local things to do downtown. Safety: Hmmmmm, well there was a club outside to the right, and another right across from the entrance. Downtown has a very interesting dichotomy. They are cleaning up the area from those who live around & suffer from socioeconomic disadvantagment. So the police presence was everywhere and appreciated along with security from all types of businesses. With that being said, you might feel uncomfortable if you're not from a urban environment. Walkability: Everything was within walking distance from this location. We didn't really use the car at all! Food & drinks: The restaurant was AMAZING! I really mean this! We didn't visit all the places on our food list of places to visit to eat, due to the eclectic menu & food we ordered whilst there. DON'T FORGET TO ORDER THE COOKIE ICE CREAM desert, out of this world good! Noteworthy details: Be very understanding that you will have to pay for parking at any nice hotel in downtown ATL. It usually costs 30 to 45$ a night depending on if they offer valet & the Sheridan did.
Good hotel overall. Rooms were clean and staff friendly. Just be aware parking is difficult to get to and from the lobby; quite pricey $35/day, no hotel guest discount. Easy to get to most attractions, short walk depending where you are going.Rooms: 4/5
1st of all the parking situation here is horrible. We were overcharged on parking as well as our truck broken into... They didn't seem very concern. There were 5 break ins all on trucks. I was told the cameras inside the parking garage did not work just there for show!! The lady at the front casually told me the only camera that works is on the front entrance.. Unprofessional, insecure, place was a joke. Pool was nice but they had the windows open so it was freezing cold in the pool area. Heat in room did not work well either.... these are the facts. Spread some extra money on a better establishment.
I’ve knocked off a star because the place is not up-to-date and my pillows has some stains; however, outside of my check-in, the customer service was great. I had an issue with my TV and they came and fixed it after a text exchange. One of my favorite things about this place was the shower—the water was hot, which I love! The price of parking is outrageous$35/night, but it’s downtown Atlanta, so that’s what you get. I do feel like the parking could have better connectivity to the hotel though. It felt like I walked a very long way just to get back. I stayed at this hotel because it was the recommended hotel for the conference I was at; I’m not sure I’d stay here of my own accord though.
