As one of New York's oldest restaurants and bars, its incumbent on us to serve the freshest bar food in the city.
The libations don't stop until 4 am daily, but our kitchen closes at 2 am Monday through Thursday. Friday through Saturday we serve food until 3 am and on Sunday the kitchen closes at 1 am.
Since the liberation from Prohibition, the bar had no name. To sailors and longshoremen, it was like a clubhouse and known as "The Green Door." In 1977, new resident-owners christened the place the Ear Inn, so chosen to avoid the Landmark commission's lengthy review of any new sign. They just painted out the round part of the "B" in BAR, and thus, the "EAR"
