Love this place!. Received immediate seating on a Saturday night had the best grilled cheese with tomato and pesto I've ever eaten. Girlfriend ordered one too we had leftovers. Staff very polite professional and a little funny aka Jess great food. Strong drinks
Atmosphere was great! Beautiful looking bar. Seated immediately on a Saturday evening at 620. Ordered drinks which took about 20 minutes. Looked like plenty of staff. Ordered food when the drinks came at about 645. Finally at 730 we still had no food after the server told us multiple times it was coming so we asked for it to be boxed up. We had reservations for an event at 8. We waited 10 more minutes for the check. Only got it because we politely told them we were leaving. Not sure if this is a normal occurrence or not. Food was ok, drinks not too great either. Maybe just a bad brake for us!
We were looking for a brunch spot and we found a great one! Tasty brunch menu? Check. Good beers on draft? Check. Friendly staff and quick service? Check, check! I had the truffle hash bacon burger with an egg and LOVED it! We will be back, for sure.
Enjoyed visiting this spot, however when we walked in no sign said, "seat yourself" or "please wait to be seated" and nobody greeted us. So we struggled to figure out what to do. We went and sat up high in a booth. It took a while to get even spoken to. We ordered mozzarella sticks and potato appetizer and both were pretty good. The cheeseburgers tasted good but they didn't have ketchup bottles or mayo, so got packets. The sun was blazing in our eyes and no way to pull down the shade. Overall, seems like a nice place for brunch or a small meal or to have a drink, but nothing stood out to me as amazing or spectacular to be honest. Most of the alcoholic drinks were weird and had eggs or other odd items in them. I asked for a drink to be modified with vodka, as oddly enough, not 1 drink came with vodka under cocktails. The vibe is kind of weird, like tries to be low-key but hipster at once. I think it's a great place for a low-key dive bar feel or for a small quick meal, but probably wouldn't go again unless they added to the menu and had more diversity in drinks. So overall a 3.5. The burgers stood out as juicy and good, so even ordering one for takeout would be good.
Great food and reasonably priced. This is a great place for a casual night out.
Delicious breakfast. Both items we got were perfectly cooked and were quite tasty. Slightly slow service but that's not unexpected these days. Patio is dog friendly as well which is a big bonus.
The vegan sandwiches were amazinggggggg. The mushroom melt was made to perfection! The cauliflower wrap had the perfect sauce on it, didn’t care for the raw onions on it but after taking them off, perfect! The sweet potato fries were probably some of the best I’ve had as well. Staff was super sweet
Online menu lured us in early afternoon on the day of the 2022 Detroit Free Press Marathon. The Emory was not busy so our party of five was immediately seated in a large booth. The online menu is not representative of the foods actually available. Gluten free options were not available which were requirements of three people in our group. I ordered the Traverse City salad with grilled chicken which arrived at our table much different than the listed ingredients. The fresh greens seemed old and mushy, Gorgonzola cheese had been replaced with feta cheese, and the Traverse City dried cherries which the salad was named for were totally missing. I asked our waitress for the dried cherries and she brought a small amount for me to add to my salad which should have been topped with them when I first received my salad named after the Traverse City cherries. The four other people in our group ordered a burger, the beet salad, a chicken wrap, spring rolls, mozzarella sticks, French fries, and sweet potato fries all of which only the fries received rave reviews. The gratuity was already added to our bill when it was presented for payment but would have been much lower if we had been given our own choice of amount earned. We will not be returning to this restaurant in the future! Kid-friendliness: No kids menu Dietary restrictions: No gluten free options! Dairy free difficult.
This used to be one of my favorite places in Ferndale, but I'd stopped going a few years ago due to slow service. I went back for a group outing, and remembered why I stopped going in the first place. Don't get me wrong, the drinks and food are great. And the atmosphere is still very chill and conversation-friendly. But everything, from drinks, to food, to just getting extra napkins took FOREVER. My friends and I went on a Thursday evening, so not that busy. Yet, it still took ages to get our drinks after ordering, and even longer for food. They even lost one of my friend's food order in the kitchen, and our server didn't even visit our table often enough even though it wasn't that busy to notice until we finally inquired where the food was. When my food arrived, I asked for extra napkins; that took more than 15 minutes, by which time I'd finished eating and just gone to the bathroom to wash my hands. Such a shame since the food and drinks are still great, but I won't be returning anytime soon.
Enjoyed a Sunday brunch with friends. The restaurant was active and open. The atmosphere was inviting. Our server was friendly. The food was delicious. I had the Emory burger. My wife enjoyed a succulent wrap. Our daughter had tasty chicken tenders. Overall, our first visit to the Emory will not be our last.Recommended dishesThe Emory Burger
