What a great place for breakfast! We've been wanting to try this place for a while, but they are always too busy. Now we know why. Wow! The Food...Great! The Service....Great! The Atmosphere...Great!
Great diner! We walked in Saturday morning around between 10 and 11, to a full house! But the wait wasn't long at all! The service was wonderful! And the food was delicious! I got the B.L.A.T.+C, and would definitely get it again! Bloody Mary's we're good too, but do know the not spicy one is spicy too.Dine in: Yes
The best brunch in the area. Had a very nice meeting here over some bloody Mary’s and hash. The portion was large. The service was exceptional. Be sure to ask to try the hot sauces and the new homemade jam!
My bf suggested this place as he heard that it was a pretty good place to eat at. I visit Detroit every other month so we try to hit new restaurants every time I visit. We walk into this place and aren’t greeted by anyone. We walk out to go back in to check this place off our bucket list and are finally greeted that we can sit anywhere we would like. There were like 4 customers in the restaurant but it took someone several minutes to come to us. We ordered shortly and our food didn’t take too long to come out. I ordered the forager which had no “mmmmm delicious” moment. It honestly was bland…from the eggs to the potatoes. They gave us some homemade jam and hot sauces to add but those all had a weird taste to it. The forager is a meal I could simply make at home which was mushrooms, carmalized onions, spinach, cheese and eggs served with some fried potatoes and sourdough toast. My bf ordered crab cakes and eggs. It too came with fried potatoes and eggs. He also agreed his meal was under seasoned. Not somewhere we would revisit. Just not enough humph for us.
It had been years since I visited Flytrap. Really glad I stopped back in today. Everything is just as I remembered, if not better. The Gingerbread waffle with apples, cherries, & cinnamon maple syrup is absolutely wonderful. It works even in the summer heat. My favorite menu item, though, is the Fire Breathing Dragon with tofu. I add fresh jalapeños and a lot of their house hot sauces to ramp up the heat. The noodles are served cold & the tofu is grilled. I love the different temperatures and textures. The service is exceptional, too.
From the original owners to Matt now, I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed here. The fried potatoes are always delicious. They have specials weekly. BLAT+C, crab cakes and eggs, huevos rancheros, definitely some classics and great! Servers are always nice even if they’re busy.
Literally the best food I've had in a very long time!! Our server, Carolynne, was also noticeably one of the kindest people I've had the ability to meet in a long time. Our food was amazing, the atmosphere was friendly and comfortable, and the service at this diner was top-notch. Sad I don't live nearby so I can't go here as often as I'd like!! Would HIGHLY recommend for anyone also lots of veg friendly options.
Just missed the mark. My husband and I went for lunch on Friday at about 2:30. First time we tried it after new owners took over. We were sat right away where ever we wanted. The entire restaurant was very cold, my husband and I kept our jackets on most of the meal. Ordered crab cakes for the appetizer, I ordered blt+a with a side salad, and my husband ordered the lemongrass faux bowl with tofu. Crab cakes where the star of the show by far. I would go back just for them. My blt+a was dry, I had to get extra aioli on the side and the bacon was under cooked. My husbands faux bowl had a flavor of cinnamon or cardamon. It was very unusual. Probably won't go back.
I got the fire breathing dragon. It was okay but a little misleading. The noodles are cold but I thought they were supposed to be hot when I ordered. The creamy cold noodles was an odd mix but the sauce and chicken were good. Definitely would try something else if I went back.
Shannon is positively phenomenal as a bartender and server. Great food, great service. This place does everything perfectly, and very quickly. Edit: Came back today, February 1 and ordered the Cowboy Curtis steak&eggs. Phenomenal again Check out the picture!
