I just returned from my first class at HB, my first ever spinning class. I found the atmosphere and the vibe of the establishment welcoming. Ivo led the class I took. Ivo helped me to saddle up at the beginning, and the couple of times my feet got off the harnesses! I will definitely return. They told me the Back Bay location offers spinning classes that spend half of the time on saddle and the other half off, with weights. Merci!
The staff are incredibly helpful, I love Jesse. I don't know a lot about spin in general, but this space is too small for the amount of people in each class, especially with the turnaround time allotted between classes.
I started going to the handlebar about 2 months ago having never done a spin class also pregnant and have loved it. I feel really comfortable going at my own pass and doing only the parts I’m able to and know that no one is judging me. Jill K has been my absolute favorite instructor, her music is always so good, she’s know her songs really well so she syncs them with the riding in a really fun way and she just has a nice vibe that’s calm but also energizing.
I went to HSquare this morning 8:45,class starts at 9. I was really looking forward to do the class. I booked a bike and by the time I filled out the paperwork ,my spot was gone along with few other free spots left: the lack of coordination is very obvious.the lady was sorry .Sooo disappointing.. 2 days later,I received an email from the manager, apologizing for the mishap, promising more coordination and offering a complimentary guest pass. I had left Boston. I really appreciated her initiative and would like to congratulate her on that. PS: I jus realized that I can edit my review.. So,to be fair,I had to share the happy ending…
A great workout with super friendly, upbeat instructors. Always good for a sweat and hard ride, great facilities and friendly desk staff. I don't know how it would be if I didn't have ClassPass though -- it seems quite expensive for a drop-in and I'm not sure it would be worth the value, but with the discount it can't be beat! I love the Handle Bar 60 on Saturday mornings, but the 45 before work is also great fun.
Came here for a second class recently. It was the 45 min session on Sunday at 5pm with Jill K. The class was really not beginner-friendly, and I felt like I was pretty much on my own. Tried to watch what the instructor or other people were doing, but the room was pitch black. Tried to hear what she was saying, but the speakers were blasting and completely dominated her voice. I'm trying to work out, not go to the cIt's all right if it's your first class and you're only paying $10, but I wouldn't come back at full price. So I think it's relevant to note that I live across the street, so I'm willing to give this place more tries than I usually would. Today I came back for a Thursday 7am session with Ashley, and it was lightyears better than my experience last time with Jill. Ashley was so energetic, passionate and motivating. She infused the room with an energy and attitude that was really amazing. She clearly explained and demonstrated all the moves, and her choreography made sense. I actually felt like I was riding to the beat instead of being forced to bike in a disco. I would recommend doing a class with her if you come here. That being said, there were other factors in play, like me having gained more experience here and having a better sense of how things work, as well as a different bike seat. Last time I may have been closest to the speaker.
It is a very dated studio and cheaply done. Compared to flywheel or soul cycle I think this is a bit more budget. Bikes are super old and in need of replacing, shoes look like they’ve had a few innings and the general upkeep of the studio is poor with marks everywhere and less facilities than others. When you walk in the lady is reading a book and whilst lovely, seemed more keen on finishing her book than welcoming patrons. Class was ok but nothing special. It does the job but I dont know if I would shell out more money for another class.
Instructors here are amazing. Energy is so good. Harvard location has great locker room space. Southie studio is super small but still awesome.
My go to spin spot. Love this place
My favorite local workout studio. High energy instructors, great music, and a fun way to to torch up to 500 cals in what feels like a dance party on a bike.
