I asked a few questions on The Jazz Station Facebook page, about why they don't announce who will be hosting the jazz jam each Sunday, and there was even a post inviting others to suggest ways to improve the place. I also mentioned that Tenor Saxophones are better than Soprano or "Electronic Musical Instruments" (EMIs). Thirdly, It's offensive that the place has banned Kenny Reed, (who is a world-class jazz drummer) from hosting the jazz jams, as he did for many years. So, nowadays, I think it might be becoming a racist venue that asserts "white people's' idea of jazz. (News flash, that's not jazz, its called "musak' or 'elevator music'.) Why must our country's political leanings have to bleed into the elitist way our best venues treat it's creative artists?
I'd be surprised if The Jazz Station even allows black people or women to come and perform there anymore. Was it only a trap made by passive-aggressive keyboard warriors, to ask for opinions only to rudely discriminate against those who make suggestions for improvement? Contrary to the way I've been treated online by The Jazz Station page, every time I've performed at the (brick and mortar) location, I've only had positive experiences all the times I've performed there. And yet, during last year's holiday season, the one time I chose to spend money there I was punished online for having my opinions about it, afterwards. If the NEW Jazz Station folks ever try to discriminate against me, like they did on their Facebook page, I will have all the time in the world to file a complaint with their landlord for discrimination against a disabled person. I am autistic and my special skills are jazz improvisation.

A fabulous place to find some deep Eugene cuts. Everyone who comes through can really play, I highly recommend this place.

Close-up and executional Jazz in a venue more like a music theater than a bar. The Willamette Jazz Society runs this non-profit where the quality of music is their main concern.
