Mr Song hosted us incredibly well! I couldn’t believe how hospitable, kind and attentive he was during our Korean BBQ meal here. The team have been fantastic. I would HIGHLY recommend coming here. It’s a must in Korean town NYC! We will be coming here again from London, UK!
Just had an incredible dining experience at Jongro BBQ NY, and I'm still savoring every moment. From the steak to the noodles, every dish was a delightful journey for the taste buds, perfectly cooked to our preferred temperature right before our eyes. The ambiance of the place, complemented by the cool view outside the window, adds to the charm of this gem. It's hands down one of the best Korean barbecue places I've ever visited. A solid 5-star rating from me and a hearty recommendation to anyone looking for an authentic, delicious meal. Do yourself a favor and check it out!
Terrible Service Experience I've been to The Kunjip before and enjoyed the food, so I decided to give it another try for dinner. However, the service experience was beyond disappointing. Upon arrival, we requested a table for two and were directed upstairs where there was no one to greet us. After inquiring with a server, we were finally seated without any communication. Midway through perusing the menu, a male staff member rudely informed us to wait elsewhere as it wasn't our turn, without any prior indication of a waitlist. His demeanor was unprofessional and unwelcoming. When asked about the wait time, he impatiently instructed us to just order. Moments later, another staff member rushed us to place our order, displaying a similar hostile attitude. Although the food was delicious, the service throughout the meal was appalling. Not once were we offered any side dishes, nor were our glasses refilled with water. We spent barely twenty minutes in the restaurant, yet multiple staff members approached our table without attending to our basic needs. To make matters worse, before we could even finish our meal, the bill was abruptly presented, signaling they wanted us to leave. As my friend was still at the table, a server immediately cleared it for the next guests. As we left, the entire staff seemed indifferent, except for the kind receptionist at the entrance. Despite the tasty food, the overall experience was marred by the atrocious service.
I recently dined at this Korean barbecue gem in Koreatown NYC, and it exceeded all my expectations! The beef and meat selection was incredibly fresh, making every bite a delight. The shrimp shumai dumplings were a pleasant surprise, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. And let's not forget about the kimchi stew, which was comforting and packed with authentic Korean flavors. The service was top-notch, and the ambiance added to the overall experience. Highly recommend this spot for any Korean barbecue enthusiast or anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in the heart of NYC!
We ordered the - Tteokbokki - Marinated Prime Ribeye BBQ - Beef Brisket BBQ - Gal Bi Jim beef stew - Gam Ja Tang Spicy pork bone&potato stew and omg everything was delicious! My fave tho was the Prime Ribeye bbq and the Tteokbokki! Service was also super fast and very attentive. Can’t wait to go again soon!
We stumbled on this in Korea Town as our usual place had a 2.5 hr waiting time. Surprisingly having arrived at 6.30 on a Saturday, we only had to wait 5 mins to be seating. I think this was more luck than anything else. The service was a little manic, with plenty of staff shouting at each other but efficient. We opted for the meat combo bbq for 2 of pork and beef. As with most Korean BBQs, it didn’t disappointment. Although some of the side dishes were not what we usually have, they still enhanced the BBQ. We did order some steamed dumplings, but wasn’t great, they were cold, tasteless and not worth the effort to eat them. Overall a great find for our first night in the city. TIP: book if possible as when we left at 8pm the queue was out the door.
Had a great time at Kunjip. Food was great and the Korean waitress was very attentive to our needs. She answered all our questions about house specials, spice levels, and size of each dish. I ordered the bibimbop combo 1. Loved the crispy rice-just right and not too burnt, although it needed a bit more salt, but the sweet/spicy hot sauce made up for it. The soup was a little over cooked and mushy but flavor was great. Would come back.
Very nice seafood Pajeon, side dish also quite nice specially the squid. Samgyetang, a whole small chicken with rice inside, definitely need the salt eat it with salt on the side, taste a bit like Chinese porridge, but with less rice.Food: 4/5
Authentic & delicious. Right smack in the middle of Koreatown - there is always a line but it generally moves quick. Kunjip is a place to eat well & then move on. Not a restaurant to linger or have a romantic evening but definitely a place to get authentic & delicious Koren food. Just about everything we ordered was good especially the BBQ. One does leave the restaurant “infused” with the flavours & aromas of what you ate but that’s typical of any BBQ joint. We had a table of 10 reservations for bigger groups highly recommended & the food came swiftly & in good sequence. It was a good evening out!
2nd time here. Visited 12/25/2023 around 7pm. First experience on nov 2023 was great. I like the lady who assisted us but the 2nd one younger didnt seem happy to serve us even though we were all very pleasant. Maybe she was tired but i believe you still have to be nice to your customers. She kinda ruined our mood and it was Christmas day! They were all like rushing the people I didn’t like the feeling! It’s like they were all about making money. I understand it’s a business but please make it enjoyable for the customers. The food wasn’t bad but i would say the food served the first time i was here was better than the second. The quality of the food didn’t match what we paid for. Quite expensive. It looks good on the photo though. I must say they make a good japchae. But I’m giving it 3 stars for food because it’s only japchae and the ambience of the place that I really liked here.
