The Murder Mystery Company

In July of 2022 I began planning an 80’s themed Murder Mystery Dinner for my loves 48th Birthday. I contacted the MMC in Houston to ensure they could accommodate my request to have the party in our home with approximently 30 guests. They understood my desires and drafted a contract. I paid roughly $850 for two actors but we provided our own food. I signed a contract and understood the timeline. The actors where due to arrive at 4pm with our guests arriving at 5pm. As the guests arrived, the actors were to introduce themselves and get to know the guests. As the guests arrived they were free to venture out to get there own food and drinks. The show was to start at 6pm. The actors did not arrive until after 6pm. I could not get in contact with anyone at the Murder Mystery Company and all calls went straight to Voicemail. From 415 to 6pm I called the MMC and again no one answered! It wasn’t until I sent a private message on IG and several voicemail messages, that the actors called stating they were on the way. When they arrived they apologized and stated they didn’t know that they had a show and was told at the last minute. That was not my concern. I paid for a full show and now that they were 2 hours late, everything was rushed. Instead of acts being 30 minutes, they were 10 minutes, instead of everyone having a chance to investigate, it was all rushed. It was a mess but I tried to make the best of it. The actors were funny and I appreciated their efforts however I could have purchased a $50 game on Amazon and started at 5 with our guests and did the same show for far less! It was NOT WORTH $850. It was a waste of money, my time and my energy. They offered nothing for the inconvenience. I would not recommend the Murder Mystery Company, they are unprofessional and disappointing! The only reason I gave them 2 stars was because 2 actors did come and they did make a good effort!

We did this as part of a work group and was facilitated by Jordan who was great! Since we aren't doing offsites activities, we did the zoom version and it was awesome. Everything was organized and the pace was just right. Would highly recommend as a group activity!

I was pleasantly surprised. The event was a lot of fun and the time flew by. Our facilitator, Detective Peter Ness Casper, did a phenomenal job trying to control our team who was fully engaged. Had a great time!!!

We did the virtual zoom murder mystery party as a corporate Microsoft event and it was so much fun!! Sarah was our detective/host for the night and she had us laughing the whole time. I would highly recommend this event especially to bring a little brightness to the world in quarantine/pandemic. Thank you!!
