Spectacular space draped in history and filled with various art . Everyone that works here is friendly . You feel special being in these walls . The event I attended was free with optional donation . Throughly enjoyed the talk on fashion by the three costume designers . Was just long enough & very interesting . Can’t wait to come back .
What a great place. Had an amazing visit and tour of this historic and beautiful building. Food and staff was wonderful too...
Went to see the Western Desert exhibition that was labeled as open and with no expected closures on their website and was told it wasn’t open upon my arrival. I’m usually pretty good about double-checking things to do with opening hours and dates, but was still unable to see this with no explanation from the staff person at the desk, just that I couldn’t see it - the end. Please update your website if there are closures or have your staff be a little more forthcoming with information so visitors aren’t left without a clue and wishing for a little more artfulness.
This building is very much worth it to visit, beautiful gallery and paintings, marvelous. Very inspiring, artistic, unique, and clever. This arts club is nice and calm, vibrant and happy. I would highly recommend visiting, especially if you are a tourist looking around NYC.
This is a private club. Most of the members are in the arts. The building on Gramercy Park in Manhattan that the club is located in was the residence of Samuel Tilden, a political figure in the 1800s who ran for President. There is currently an art exhibit at the club. Admission to the exhibit and therefore to some of the building is free for the general public- just go to their website and sign up. Though the works in the exhibit don't differentiate itself from much of what you see in galleries, it's not bad and worth seeing. The building the club is in is definitely worth seeing .
What a phenomenal venue. The building is absolutely breathtaking with beautiful pieces of art and the architecture is detailed and exquisite. The food menu was updated as they hired a new chef and from what I understand, they offer many more items to choose from. I ordered the beet and whipped goat cheese salad and the braised lamb with vegetables on top of creamy mashed potatoes. It paired well with a Cabernet. For dessert I ordered a berry crisp crumble with gelato and a cappuccino. Everything was delicious and I didn't leave a morsel on the plate. If you have an opportunity to visit, it's definitely worth the 2 hours of traffic for us since we are coming in from Long Island and it was a wonderful experience. Take a moment and soak in the decor and the beautiful stained glass dome in the bar area. You will not be disappointed!
We stumbeded on to this when in NYC for a wedding. There was a great Warhol exhibit -free now that is something for NYC. The builings is right on Gramercy park.
They closed for summer. Will come back on Sep 12,2022. It’s so bad.
Such a cool place. I was lucky enough to visit with a club member. Lots of different art to look at and we also had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Bar has a very relaxing, welcoming atmosphere.
A historical, landmark gem filled with art. Still elegant a century later.
