The New Orleans Tattoo Museum & Studio

About

Personal vision tattoo specialists. Buy Art. Learn about the stories, images and myths of American electric tattooing!

Story

The NOTM will be concerned with preserving the stories, spirit, images, myths and truths of American electric tattooing from its beginnings in the late 19th century to present, with an emphasis on New Orleans. It is an educational resource for those interested in the progression of the art medium. The NOTM will house a permanent collection of artifacts and personal accounts from local legends, an art gallery with rotating shows that will focus on artwork created by local tattooers, a bookstore showcasing related books and periodicals, as well as my own small, appointment-based custom tattoo studio. The active studio will offer a nice contrast to the museum, showing the contemporary developments in art-styles and industry. There is currently no museum or business in New Orleans dedicated to tattoo history and culture like the proposed New Orleans Tattoo Museum. It will be a strong asset to the surrounding community for generations to come.

This place was amazing. I called last minute for a walk in and they were completely accomodating. Adam helped me hammer down the details of my tat and had it done so fast I almost missed taking a picture! They're very friendly, and the place is clean, and bright, and SUPER interesting with the museum pieces and tattoo history. If you're in town and want a tat, I'd highly recommend them :
Miranda is a wonderful artist and did excellent work. She is a true professional. I was only in town for a few days and had her create a tattoo in memory of my son--she was so patient and detailed in getting it just right for me and didn't rush the process at all. I am so confident in her work that I'm already planning a trip to return for more. Everyone in the shop was professional, polite and welcoming. We had a great time getting to know them and talk to them about their work. The studio is CLEAN and well maintained, unlike a lot of the shops that are full of intoxicated tourists in the quarter. The atmosphere was relaxed and void of the unpleasant drunks. And the bonus of a museum to look around in and discuss with the staff helped pass the time.
Walked in with nothing in mind but ended up receiving a cover up from Adam that he thought of on the spot. He flawlessly hid my previous tattoo and was very thorough as well as professional. I recommend visiting, even just to view the museum! Very good vibes.
Adam is an incredible artist who took exactly what I was saying and made it 100x better! I wouldn't have trusted anyone else to do what he did and I'm very thankful to have his work of art on my body. Hands down the best tattoo parlor in the NOLA!
First tattoo and very happy it happened here. Adam was helpful and supportive in getting my design in the right place and scale and thinking about color for the future. The line work is beautiful as it is.
Great experience for my first tattoo. Adam did great work in a confident and professional manner. I'm very pleased and will be back.
Jamie was very accommodating and asked a lot of questions about my simple design to make sure it was perfect and it was! Beautiful shop with great artists with a focus on quality. Very happy with my experience!
Received several tattoos here! So good. Friendly service, no attitude. Great artists!
Custom work at its best plus it is a museum. Totally awesome for anyone wanting to learn a little more of NOLA history than what the tourism department puts in front of you
Miranda rocks! Her attention to detail is Awesome. Absolutely love my tat :
