I rediscovered a perfume that my grandmother wore when I was growing up. Pretty special! I’ve never been to a place like this before but I’m glad I stopped by. Their selection is vast and some of the bottles are incredibly old! You can keep on sniffing around until you find the bottle that’s perfect for you. Mark helped us and he is an absolute gem
Made an appointment. My host was awesome. Indulged my nose with a variety of scents, patiently, and also my curiosity by explaining a lot. I had an excellent time and look forward to returning. They have a huge selection and I was really impressed with some of the classic smells they have there, which you can't find anywhere else. Highly recommend.
Incredible boutique! If you are looking for a place to find a real niche perfumery, if you are looking for a place to discover historical fragrances, if you are looking for a place to find a perfume that has inspired you in the past and you want to warm up again in it fragrant notes, then you definitely need to go to The Perfume House. This is a real museum of perfumery and aromas will meet you from the first seconds you open the door. Wonderful service and a wide selection of European perfume houses and not only.
What a treat! A lovely shop filled with a wide array of perfumes. The person who helped us was really nice and gave me some free Serge Lutens samples even though they were low on stock. Sometimes buying perfume can be high-pressure by design. I’m not a person who can afford to purchase most bottles blind and really enjoy experimenting before acquiring. For me the fun is in curating a special collection. Perfume salespeople can be aggressive, and that’s not their fault when they’re paid via commission! The environment here is casual and welcoming. I didn’t feel any pressure to buy. But I did anyway. Because I wanted to! I’ll always plan to stop by whenever in Portland. They offer free shipping on their website, too.
I'm a complete newbie to the world of fragrance and Mark at the Perfume House made me feel welcome. He was a great teacher telling me about how to choose, how to test, even the best way to apply. No pressure at all, except to like what I decided on. If you are interested in finding a high end cologne or perfume that's just right for you I highly recommend visiting.
I had a great experience recently at the Perfume House. I was looking for a new scent and the owner waited on me. She asked me the right questions to find out what I liked. She showed me several fragrances, about 8 I think and out of those I went back to the first one. I love it very much. It is Must de Cartier Gold and I could smell it all the way home. I recommend this place.
This place is a treasure! If you love quality fragrances and want the opportunity to select something special, this is the place. Amazing selection, knowledgeable staff, beautiful environment make it a delight for shopping. I've been coming here for over twenty years and always leave with a smile -- and smelling wonderful!
I am still blown away at the extraordinary care, customer service, and passion that I experienced during my appointment with Mark. Not only did he demonstrate extraordinary kindness and empathy a precious commodity during these times, he shared his passion, knowledge, and expertise. This is truly a must-go destination for any fragrance or perfume lover. It is not simply a store that sells products, but a venerable stalwart guard of perfume history. I was looking to purchase more of my favorite and deeply sentimental perfumes, only to learn the devastating news that the brand had been purchased and the fragrance line was being wholly shuttered. The Perfume House still had some of the eau du toilette and quickly set them aside for me and pulled the rest of the stock they had. Then Mark very very kindly and gently put together a compassionate “pity” bag of whatever goodies he could find. If there is any place that deeply understands the emotional connection that scent has to precious memories, it’s this shop. During these COVID times an appointment is required, but when I spoke with Mark on the phone I was able to come very quickly in an hour. Personally, I appreciate the precautions and one on one care. The Perfume House has earned themselves a life long customer in me.
Great first visit. The guy working was super knowledgeable and told us some history about perfume! Very fun and educational!
Absolutely fantastic shop with a massive selection of fragrances. They even carry an inventory of discontinued products as long with hard to find vintage formulations. They seem to carry quite a bit more products than their site lists, so worth checking out even if they don't list what you're looking for. Knowledgeable and helpful employees and their collection of vintage bottles and promotional material makes this place also feel like a museum. A must for any enthusiast or those unsure of what they like.
