The location and price of this was great. The key pad entry was fine if you read the information you get in advance. The room was also large, but it was kept so warm that I didn't sleep, but maybe this was a tactic to make the freezing shower bearable. I also really don't appreciate the amount of information required to finalize the reservation with a full face photo. Then they asked about my checkout plans but I had to login to provide it. The lack of front desk did not streamline anything here.
I was nervous about the bad reviews but I’m SO glad I gave the Quincy a shot. As a business traveler, this is my new favorite hotel in DC. My room was a studio with a legitimate kitchen so I could prepare home-cooked meals during a business trip dream come true!. There is do-it-yourself laundry for $2.50, so I could do a mid-week refresh. People complained about the temperature control, but you can turn the thermostat off to bring the room closer to the outside temperature. I kept the room at a comfy 65-68 for my full stay. People also complained about the lack of staffing but there was someone at the front desk during business hours. It’s just unstaffed at night. The Quincy felt more like an apartment than a hotel, which I prefer. Loved cooking here, sleeping here, working here… will be back!!!
I was afraid after I booked this Sonder and saw all the negative reviews, but we just completed our stay and everything was fine. The keypad entry worked fine, the room was big and clean, bed was comfortable. The only issue we had was the room was a bit hot for sleeping, but we opened the window. The street below is noisy during the week but on the weekends is quiet. I am a super light sleeper so I always travel with earplugs but any noise will wake me. Overall this hotel was a good value compared to others in the area and served our needs well for a short trip.
Pros: Big rooms, decent kitchen, price and location Cons: Can't control the temperature; no front desk; keyboard at entrance barely works; ditto for the slow elevators. Many rooms are noisy if near front of building. Phone help not available after 9PM, instead, just a wonky app to chat with customer service to get any assistance checking in, etc. Very invasive ID scan required for check in - where does that data go? Problems can arise if you book through a third party provider like Booking - poor coordination of details with Sonder leads to confusion. Overall, *do not stay here!* Pay the extra money to have some humans on site at a real hotel. The "more profit by zero employees" method is late stage capitalism at its finest. Avoid! Rooms: Heat controls turned off from April to Oct; ditto for AC during winter months. Some rooms noisy, depending where located in the building. Safety: Door key pads barely work; same goes for the elevator which is probably slower than the stairs. Walkability: The location is the one good thing about this property. Noteworthy details: There is nobody on site and they try to do all the check in via remote app and ID scan. It didn't go smoothly for me and it took a while to get it sorted. Find someplace with a person on site.
The lack of staff is a huge issue, particularly if you book through a business travel agency, as they don't send you an email with check-in information. I was lucky enough that there was a staff member there when I arrived, but the process took us about 30 minutes to complete and I had to come back downstairs a few times as the room code wouldn't work. This was not as bad as my colleague who arrived at 11pm after a long flight to find the room was double booked and there was another guest in his room. He had to go find another hotel at that hour. Overall, nice concept, terrible execution.
Lovely hotel. The room was huge! Everything worked just fine, and the kitchen was pretty well stocked for its purpose. Lots of restaurants within easy walking distance.Rooms: 5/5
You have to use an app to get in and out, or a special access code. When I walked in, there was no staff. It’s a very low-cost model but the rooms end up being very nice because of some of the cost savings I think. Mine had a kitchen.Rooms: 5/5
Profits over guest needs! Do not stay at this property. They knowingly reserve noisy rooms and sneakingly hide behind a disclaimer that the property is in an area with loud nightlife. They address the noise problem by giving the guest a white noise machine and earplugs. Yes, really! I suggest looking for another hotel in the area that is more guest-centered. The Sonder Quincy customer service app representative needs to improve on their professionalism. They need more general customer service skills training. The Sonder hotel management is greedy and will not refund you if you complain about the noise. They shame the guest into thinking it is their fault for not reading the hidden disclaimer. This tough-love approach should put them out of business. There should be a petition to remove Sonder Quincy from third party sites.
Not sure why it has so many bad reviews. I don’t think people read their website or other reviews before staying in a Sonder location. This is my second time staying at a Sonder location and it’s great for the price you pay. First time in London during their winter season. The only bad thing I find with these locations is the whole AC situation which is controlled by the hotel itself. ** I would never stay at a Sonder location during summer months because of this** This location is close to all the monuments and it’s around good restaurants. The room I got on the 10th floor- 1006 was spacious. The room is equipped with a full kitchen, separate bathroom and hanging space for your clothes. Not sure if all the other rooms are like this. There’s a Wawa around the corner and a parking garage. There’s a rest next door and a bar with karaoke on the bottom floor. As soon as we got in, the heater was on full blast because it’s considered winter in DC. We turned it off and opened the windows. The windows only open a little bit but it was the enough to keep the room chilly. The beds was hard but we don’t mind as we have back problems and a sturdy bed helps us. Everything was clean and I didn’t have any complaints about the noise. While others complain about not having staff available, there is someone there until 7ish ? I want to say or 9pm that could help you. Check in process is easy and I like that you get a code and come and go as you please. All through the app. At both locations that I’ve stayed at there is someone there to help you throughout the day. You get what you pay for. A clean spacious space to lay your head and explore DC.
The apartment was OK, but we had 3 problems: 1 we had 2 chairs to seat, one of them wobbled a lot, a leave a message for support, they received, but nobody changed the chair. So, one of us ate standing. 2 if you received an apartment with number ...07,08 or 09 in the end, you should be ready for the sound garbage machine, that banks the tanks very loudly from 6-7 o'clock in the morning. I hope, video will be attached 3 the hotel has a lot of signs and reminders about silence at night, but they don't extend to room cleaners who can clean rooms for early check-in maybe at 3 AM. Complaining to the chat was also unsuccessful.
