We stopped at this lovely, eccentric cafe for my birthday meal today. The overall appearance was full of whimsical energy. The staff was delightful and we enjoyed our interaction with them and also experiencing their banter as they worked. We sampled the sweet potato curry soup. The perfect start to a meal on a rainy day! Some hand cut sweet potato fries were next. They were delicious and very well cooked. My wife had the curry chicken salad sandwich with salad, I had the brat state fair style also with a salad. We didn’t even have scraps left by the end of our meal. The flavor profile was a well balanced palette of savory and spice, leaning on local produce throughout: the buns baked locally, meats from named farms, greens and veg from local suppliers, even the honey being from a named local apiary. We finished up with a carrot cake and a cookie. Both were a delightful end to a meal that left us stuffed, satisfied, and definitely coming back to try more of this colorful menu!
What a wonderful place with such a variety of food! Alright my thoughts. 1. I liked how there was a variety of seating but when it's 106 out, the indoor seating was limited but it still was out of the heat which was nice. 2. I tried a lot of their food and all of it was great. The true stars were the pimento cheese burger and the cornbread. 3. I only have one small point and it's with the sweet potato fries. I don't know if I would call them fries, because that usually indicates that they are fried. These were more like roasted steak fries. They still tasted great and the sauce was lovely. I just expected something different. An opinion for the restaurant. The salad dressing was great but honestly the burger didn't need it. I would have been happy with a small portion of fries instead. They also had a great selection of treats and local items as well. I would recommend this place highly. Vegetarian options: Tofu options
This was cool little spot. The decor was neat, the idea is great and everything seemed really well put together. I will however have to say that I wasn't thrilled with the food as much as it's praised. I will not knock this trip as the service was quick, the food was just as it's described but something was just off with both the grilled cheese and the burger with pepper jack cheese. We will certainly go again, try something different and see if we can't pick something better or have them make it a little better but for now, I give them a 5 on overall astetics, location and variety and a 4 on food.
Looking for a local food in Little Rock, here is your place. Everything is just perfect. Friendly servers, cozy atmosphere, food is above and beyond. We ordered tofu sandwiches, curry chicken salad salad and kid ham cheese sandwich. Tofu is crispy and enough flavor for the burger. Curry chicken is different but tasty. I would come back here next time if visit this town again.
The root cafe exceeded my expectations. When I first walked in the eclectic and vintage vibe hit in my feels. Definitely coming back to sit on the patio next time. Not only was the ambiance 5 star but so was the food. It was fresh and was served with generous portion sizes. I ordered the curry chicken salad sandwich and my friend ordered the spicy tofu sandwich.
First, the food was really good. I got the pimento cheese burger and the wife the chicken salad sandwich. Our daughters got a cheeseburger and fries. The service was fine and the atmosphere was good. However, it was a hot June day and the restaurant was very warm inside. Plan to spend $20 per person if you go, even for lunch.
The root Cafe was very busy when I came at noon, but I was greeted with a smile and waited patiently for a table. So glad I did. Organic local ground coffee or lavender, mint or ginger teas, small farm to table resourced, gluten/ allergy free, vegan options, huge portions, eclectic funky Soma District gem, covered outside porch or courtyard dining is pet friendly. Five stars for cleanliness too. Pimento Burger was quite tasty as were the half and half fries which everyone is raving about. Small parking lot but street parking nearby. I want to visit the Purse Museum and will stop by again soon. So glad this place is thriving.
Beautiful spot. The outdoor sitting area is amazing. You have a few places to choose from. I order a mimosas which is beyond tasty, the pimento cheeseburger was a perfect blend of spicy and juicy. This place also seems to be dog friendly. Also got a side salad and their dressing is so tasty! Would recommend coming to this place!
A really fun restaurant with a unique atmosphere. It's great that they get locally-sourced ingredients, and makes the slightly higher prices worth it. I had the Hotmaker, which I would definitely get again, and the sweet potato fries were the favorite thing we got. I'd like to know what goes into the sauce that came with the fries!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
Nice place serving locally sourced foods and sells some of their own products. My wife had the cheese burger and said that it was excellent! I had the old world brat, but I found it lacking. The brat was dry and had no juice at all and had no bratwurst flavor to it. By bratwurst flavor I am referring to the combination of mace, ground caraway, cardamom, marjoram, and ground coriander that makes brats taste the way they do. The dishes were served with an impressive salad consisting of a nice blend of different greens and the house made vinaigrette had a wonderful herbaceous flavor. Maybe it was just an off day for brats, I would be willing to try one again when I'm in the area. All in all it's a nice place to eat and the service was good.
