The Søvengård

This place is just great. Wonderful food and ambiance. I ordered two of the open face sandwiches and they were awesome. She got the pork shoulder which was equally good. Every ingredient tasted very fresh and prepared from scratch. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We got right in with no wait during peak time on a Saturday night. They have a lot of seating and the outdoor area is great. Definitely a place to hit in Grand Rapids

Stopped in here on a whim with my girlfriend while out for a walk. Sadly the terrace wasn't open yet, but we decided to stay for brunch, and boy am I happy we did. The food was fantastic and just different enough to set it aside from other places. The brunch drinks were interesting and great too. The wait staff was awesome and knew what they were talking about. On our way out we met one of the owners and asked him about the expansion they were doing. He offered to show it to us, and was just a super nice guy. Very happy to have supported a local family establishment. Absolutely will be going back!

The atmosphere was very relaxed and cozy. Great spot to sit and talk over a beer & warm meal. Service was impeccable! The food was absolutely delicious, but the portions are a bit small compared to pricing. I felt good about spending the extra money knowing that they source their food from local vendors. We each ordered different menu items to pass around and try. I was very impressed with the bologna and fried egg sandwich and the Amish chicken breast. For dessert we tried the beet red velvet cake and chocolate mousse. So delicious! Would definitely recommend trying this cute restaurant!

The Søvengård is one very good eats spot. It's hidden in the Grand Rapids community but it's well known by all the locals. The Søvengård is foremost, a Midwest restaurant, but seen through the eyes as the New Nordic Movement. Simply put, the delicious food and drink you are about to enjoy, has been prepared with care and responsibility for the land and its people, and is representative of this amazing area and current season. Søvengård means “land of the lake friends”, and they will welcome you as such. So come and relax and enjoy your time in the top pick of Grand Rapids restaurants. The Søvengård the Nordic experience.

So, so good. Went here last night (5/5) and it was great. We ate inside because there was no wait. The hostess (I don't remember her name) was hilarious, server (Zac) was great, all the staff were very friendly. The food was incredible and I recommend literally any of the fish, it is so fresh. Great place.
