The Salon Professional Academy Iowa City

I am putting two stars instead of one, because all of the students I've had there have been kind, attentive and patient. Also, the receptionist I made the waxing appointment with was very professional and warm. The manager, Jenna Jones, however, tried to--I believe--cheat me. I have been there dozens of times, and for this waxing service, I have always been charged between $5-$8. Well, Jenna Jones tried to charge me $19 for this service. I asked her for an explanation about why I had been charged between $5-$8 for the service every, single time before, but now she was asking for $19. Mrs. Jones shifted around and said, "Well, why did you say you were having your arms done, but now you're having this other area done?" (Irrelevant, of course.) I asked her again about the criminal jump in price for the small waxing service. She said--actually, she lied and said, "Well, I looked up your prices from before on the computer, and you have always paid $19.00 for that service." That is a bald face lie. (I keep all my receipts. You remember that comedian Mitch Hedberg? He laughed at the idea of needing a receipt for a donut, because what are you going to do? Go home and file a receipt for a donut under "d" for "donut?" Well, that donunt-reciept-filing person is me! And so when I tell you Jenna Jones lied to me, I can back that statement up in court.) I asked to have an address to write to the manager or owner. I was told Alex or Brenda would call me. Neither have. Alex is the owner, and Brenda is the head of the school. I do not understand why the store owner would hire someone like Jenna Jones who is so comfortable with lying to customers, potentially cheating them out of money. I will never go back here again until they find people who are better fit for customer service jobs to play leadership roles in the school.

I went in for a trim & style, my hair is not even trimmed all the way around & I definitely don’t have a style my hair is barely straight. The stylist I was with flat ironed my hair while it was still wet. I could’ve did this myself. THEY SUCK.!!!!!!!

Very nice people & nicely decorated. Organized!! Applied for receptionist job here, I'm a former cosmetologist, thought I would fit in great, but no call back.. :( Bummer, but their loss!! :)

I am really torn about this experience. My stylist was friendly and did a great job....for the most part. I got highlights and one under-section of the back of my head is fully bleached out and barely toned at all. I would have said something but I did not see the patch until someone else pointed it out when I had my hair up.
