The Salvation Army has been committed to doing the most good in the Greater New Orleans Area since 1886.
The Salvation Army of Greater New Orleans serves five parishes (Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, & St. Tammany).
The organization provides a broad array of social services. The Center of Hope on South Claiborne Avenue has programs that feed the hungry; shelter the homeless; assist disaster victims; and provide outreach and opportunities to the elderly, underprivileged children, and families in need. The Adult Rehabilitation Center on Jefferson Highway offers social and emotional support to men and women battling addiction.
The Greater New Orleans Area Command operates under Majors Ernest and Debra Hull.
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
