Fun place to start off your night at. The place is not crowded, but there is no where to sit. There is a nice cool breeze, which was too cool the first time I went. Drinks are good. Staff is friendly. They play old school jams, which is always great. The crowd of people is a good mix of prople. The last time I went it seem like 30 and up.
They make you feel right at home. I wish the drinks were a little more affordable, but I also get it's downtown. If you're friends with one person who works or is a regular there, you're basically family. Pretty chill spot, great goth night.
Went to this bar to have a beer with friends. Stood at the bar for almost 20 minutes and was never served. Thought it was me, but soon I was in a conversation with 2 others experiencing the same BS. Looked down the bar and there were several others. These Bar tenders were too busy “hanging out” too serve anyone they didn’t know. Looked outside and the bouncers are dancing with customers. Never going here again.
Reads like a traditional bar. We visited when it was earlier in the night on a Saturday so there was no live music or DJ. The bartender maybe owner? told us there was no menu. Beer and liquor options. The furniture was well-used and a little grimy. Everyone in the bar seemed happy and friendly. Overall, it seemed like a cool place and unique for the Denver scene as it was avoiding pretension on all accounts.
Ordered an IPA on tap and could only stomach two sips. It had a very moldy/foul taste to it. I asked the bartender for a different beer canned and he said he was still going to charge me. This is their right, but terrible customer service in my opinion. My guess is your tap lines need to be cleaned. Update: owner replied to my review offering a refund. I believe that was the right thing to do given the circumstances so I wanted to point this out and offer a positive review.
Great place to be, the staff is always friendly and energetic. Very chill environment and the dj is always on point. Good place to go and meet new people if you're new to denver or just visiting. Its right next door to Leela's European cafe which serves food and is open 24 hours so if you're not quit ready to call it a night you've got another place to keep the party going. Its always a good time at shag :
My husband and I had made sure to stop by the shag lounge because the last time we went it was so much fun and a great atmosphere and service. Well tonight we went in and went up to the bar and waited our turn to be served like everyone else. Eventually we are the last ones at the bar. The bar tender started talking to other patrons and cleaning up behind the bar, my husband went and stood right in front of him, it was obvious he wanted something, but the bartender looked at him and went straight back to doing dishes instead of a how may I help you. Super disappointed in the service especially since I was looking forward to going again!
While I’m new to the Denver scene, I know how a bar experience should be. And this, was not the experience we were looking for. Not only were we ID’d twice, once by at the door and again at the bar in a practically empty establishment, we were also treated by staff as toss away customers. No greeting when we came into the bar that only had 5 customers. Asked 4 times what drink we asked for basic vodka soda by the seemingly careless bartender. And on top of that, no acknowledgement of gratitude for stopping at this specific bar in a sea of options. No interest in coming back and wouldn’t recommend it to others as well.
Pretty decent bar. Went on a Saturday night and it was surprisingly empty. One of the bar tenders kinda looked like he didn't want to be bothered and took long to take my drink order. There's very little sitting room other than the bar stands.
Going to be upfront and say that I worked here and was let go so obviously take this with a grain of salt. This is a locals bar if I've ever seen one. The regulars are great and show up a few times and act the part you'll soon be one. Pretty soon you'll know who Charlie is the person everyone seems to know but is rarely seen. Again this being said management is fairly standoffish, which can be great for a bar in some ways and not great in others. Depends on who's askng. Most of the quiet regulars welcome in for their daily beer and a fireball might reminisce of the glory days of the bar and from what I've heard they were glorious. No food here but I bet the bartender on duty could make you a cinnamon toast crunch shot if you ask nicely. Just don't ask to bum a cigarette.
