The Original School of Creative Writing and Thinking, est. 1987
Hailed as “the most personal of the programs” by The New York Times, The Writers Studio was founded on the belief that when the desire to write is strong enough, anyone can learn the craft necessary for full creative expression.
Over the past 31 years, the school has developed a unique method which emphasizes technique and emotional connection, making writers aware of the distinction between the actual writer and a narrative persona.
To beginning students, we offer a safe, non-competitive and supportive environment, where they learn to turn autobiographical fragments into successful narrative or poetic pieces. To advanced students, we offer technical guidance and professional criticism while they work on longer pieces to submit for publication.
