I have read the reviews and the ones with more than 1 star must have be written by staff members because my granddaughter has been in the is school approximately 4 days and has already been threatened by students boys and girls. How is a parent suppose to have any peace. When all they want is for their child to get an education so they can become a productive members of society. You can't teach students if you are afraid of them. You can't give the bad apples passes because you don't want to tarnish your schools reputation. We are loosing kids everyday out here because the lack proprietary initiative from our educators and city council members. They seem to be more concerned about the cosmetics of situation and not willing to get in an do the work to weed out the bad element and protect those kids that just want to get an education.
I was able to tour the new facility after the excellent historic renovation & modernization. Very glad they reused the idea from the Wilson HS project to make the courtyard useful again. Now it's up to the administration and teachers and parents to show what a difference they can make on the students and earn a star upgrade on my rating. Good luck!
Worst school I've ever been to. Quite possibly the worst in the city. Teachers would rather talk to the "roamers"kids who walk the halls all day than teach those who actually want to learn. Security treats them like celebs, instead of sending them back to class. The staff always seems like the wish they were somewhere else, perhaps in front of the TV where they usually are... Student are nasty and rude with NO home training, no direction, and no desire to respect anyone-including themselves.
I am a substitute teacher who works there often. Many of the students are great to work with and the staff, administration, and security are strong. A very welcoming environment indeed.
The students from this school are rude and disrespectful. They push adults out of the way to get on the buses then want to curse you if you say something. One girl wanted to fight me and I'm old enough to be her grandmother.
I attended a few night classes here many years ago during my senior high school days. The only thing I remember about this place was Ms. Whitfield, a kind-hearted, gentle, and patient teacher who taught us English and Literature.
I attended Roosevelt Senior High School I am a graduating class of 1995 I really enjoy attend this school but it was kind of rough going to this school back then.my son is a 9th grader here and I like the new renovation of this school I can't recognize it anymore it looks different inside.
it OK now that there is a new principal
Good work out spot
