It's basically a neighborhood bar. Food was good and the cocktail was unique. The bartender made a good drink lacks conversation that you usually get from bartenders.
Enjoyed having an after-work drink at this local watering hole last evening. The biggest plus is that the location has a really good selection of non-mainstream drinks to choose from; I really enjoyed the variety of drinks from places I'd never heard of or tried before. The only negative is that - like most places post pandemic - staff appears to have been cut back until business really resumes, and so there was a little bit of a wait every time you wanted/needed service. Other than that minor inconvenience, a very good experience and would recommend a visit.
I would have given this place 5 stars a week ago, as I have been coming here regularly for years. I moved out of state so now I can only visit once per year. It's the highlight of my trip because of their chicken and waffle sliders. I went today and alas, they took them OFF THE MENU!!! Disappointed is a massive understatement. If I wasn't so loyal to them before, I would be tempted to give one star now for such a horrid decision. Everyone loved them. Myself or my friends who are also long term customers will not be returning until/unless they are brought back.
New owners, great food. Exceptional service.
This is a nice Tavern with a neighborhood bar feel. Decent beer selection. I really liked the Bombardier British Ale in the cool glass bearing its name. The menu has some nice selections. We ordered the goat cheese & roasted poblano pepper burger and the fried cod entree. Both came with "potato rounds", which was a first for us. Though perfectly salted, they could have been cooked another minute or two. The burger was quite good, nicely seasoned and had a good kick of spiciness. Unfortunately, the cod was over cooked. The fish itself was decent but the beer batter was too well done. The two ladies working behind the bar were attentive, but we feel they could have been a little friendlier. Smiles were definitely lacking, but they may have been having a difficult day. We'll definitely be back, however. We understand any restaurant can have an off day.
This Pub in downtown Decatur is a sweet gem. A very relaxed atmosphere serving great food. One of my husband and I "date- nite" go to places!!
Too political. We had planned to go here for a relaxing dinner in late October, but it was clear that the new management had a particular political viewpoint with candidate signs in their window and other politically polarizing signs. Being election season, we didn't want to have to deal with that everywhere we went. Not shown in the pictures, so beware.
Friendly neighborhood pub in serious need of a refresh. The food has taken a few steps back from The Man's heyday when the place was full of regulars and newbies all who seemed to be having a great time. Maybe new owners can salvage this Decatur mainstay. Start with killing the annoying grunge music.
I enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant. The food was very tasty and the service was good. I had a chicken gyro with Mac and cheese and my boyfriend had a tavern burger with tator tots. I like how they made their Mac and cheese the melted cheese on top made it taste even better. The tator tots were perfectly cooked and he said he really enjoyed his burger he did add extra toppings which are $1.50 each. We are definitely going to come back and try something different.
Fun little bar with excellent food. The service at lunch was pretty slow, with just the bartender handling everybody. But, once the food came out I really enjoyed it. The fried chicken slider was great, and the Alaskan cod taco was similarly excellent!
