Thisday Photography

We spent a lot of time deciding on what photographer we wanted for our wedding and I'm so so happy we chose Thisday. Paula and Mike were so incredible and helpful the whole day of the wedding. They not only made sure our pictures were incredible but they assisted us in many other ways and helped our day go so smoothly. They are so passionate about photography and are genuinely nice and caring people. We could not be happier with our pictures, they turned out so amazing and captured our day perfectly! If I could give them 10 stars I would. I highly reccomend!

Let me start off by saying that Paula and Mike were great. Our family and guests loved them and they were enjoyable to be around. We also got some really great wedding photos. However, I am not happy with our experience as a whole. It started with our engagement session. We requested rural photos, but did not leave the city limits of Ames. Our pictures all felt and looked fake and posed. They always spelled my name wrong and called my husband Tyler, and his name is Ty. This seems like a major thing to get right when working with clients who are paying you thousands of dollars. Before the wedding we had a phone conversation where I explained the members of our wedding party, the fact that my parents are divorced and who they “important” people were. And on the day of our wedding, they kept referring to my mom’s fiance as her brother. Before the wedding I also asked if they’d like to know the types of photos we wanted and a list of family pictures. They seemed offended by the question and told us to trust their professional opinion. I was hesitant to do this after our engagement session, but decided to trust them. I wish I wouldn’t have because we ended up without a lot of pictures that we really wanted. For example, our ushers were left out of all of the group photos. Our ushers were my two brother-in-laws and my husbands only two cousins. We did not get a picture with my husband’s sister (who is his only sibling). We did not get a single picture with our flower girls who are our only 2 nieces. Our first niece plays an important role in our relationship and is the reason we started dating. I did not notice this at the time because I was caught up in the moment. I think that we fell through the cracks with Mike and Paula. I believe they are great at what they do, but we did not get their best. I think they forgot that our wedding was about us and that they needed to adapt to our wants instead of doing what they usually do.

Amazing space! Kind and knowledgeable owners. They took our wedding photos, and it was like having photographers and a personal attendant all in one!

My wedding was 9/22/2014, and although we did not know them before getting our engagement photos, they added so much to our special day! Their experience gave us great insights to get the best pictures. Paula was so sweet and patient, and Spenser, my husband, had a blast with Mike. Also, we LOVE our pictures - engagement AND wedding pictures. The BEST photographers we have ever met!
