I've been going to this library for years. Most staff are helpful and polite. Some, not so much. I have had to make some serious complaints that were handled. For the most part though, this is the best library.i love the size, huge children's area and other study areas where you can work privately sans anyone bothering you. Upstairs though, and in the front lobby area you have homeless people who are always around, but the library is essential for all. Very clean always. Great selection of books.

When you think of libraries, it is natural to think of books. But this library represents much more to the community. It's patrons, both young and old, seem to appreciate it as a meeting place for small groups, a place to relax and collect your thoughts before business meetings. Some tend to focus on researching various subjects. Their collection of videos is wonderful and serves an active pool of movies fans. The library is set in a picturesque setting that is especially lovely during the spring, summer and autumn months. One can enjoy your visits outside of the library by adding short walks along the many paths surrounding the library. All in all, the library in Tigard provides many reasons to enjoy a visit besides just to borrow a book.

Great library! It is very big and has a large selection. I especially like the large selection of graphic novels. The kids section is also really big. There is a decent selection of movies, but the CD section is pretty small and not very diverse. They have great staff recommendations as well.

Not that it's Tigard Library's fault (at least hopefully not), but the removal of Literary Cafe from their lobby is a major loss to the library's overall quality and appeal. Local, organic, sustainably sourced foods and coffees were hand prepared, brewed and cooked daily, at sensible prices for all library patrons. These owners fed the homeless, gave rides to late high school students, offered water to thirsty dogs tied up outside, and were generally wonderfully generous people. These owners were then offered a laughably unfair contract by the City of Tigard that no one in their right mind would accept, and they rightfully didn't.
Tangent over...
The library itself is good. However, a 2 hr max reservation time for their study rooms is very short when college courseloads typically require long, sustained timeblocks to absorb more complex material. They have great book, video, and magazine selections, though, and a nice, roomy ambience (the funky smell in the quiet room isn't appealing, though).
They have excellent staff!!!
