Tinderbox offers radio promotion, press, tour support, licensing & online merchandise solutions for unsigned and independent music. www.tinderboxmusic.com
If you would like to send us your music, here are some things you should know:
There are two ways to submit; Physically or Digitally.
As we live in a digital age, it is probably easier for you to submit your music to us via Bandcamp, Facebook, Reverbnation, Soundcloud, or Sonicbids. Got links? We’ll take them! Just email them to brandon (at) tinderboxmusic (dot) com.
DO NOT ATTACH YOUR SONGS TO YOUR SUBMISSION EMAIL. Links only please.
Please include a little bit about yourself as well. If you have a one sheet that is less than 7MB in size, you may attach that.
If you like to do things old school, you can also send us physical submissions. Please send only full length or EP length CDs. We don’t service singles since many college radio stations won’t play them. Plus, hearing a complete album gives us a better idea of what you sound like.
Your CD must be radio ready. By this we mean that it should have been professionally recorded, mixed, and mastered. There is a standard of sound quality that goes along with even being considered for airplay. This doesn’t mean that you need to have spent $50,000 on your CD, but the sound quality should stand up to stuff from the majors.
We specialize in indie, pop/alternative, modern rock, triple-A, rock, and acoustic-based rock, hip hop and electronic music. All though we love Jazz, we don’t regularly promote jazz, sorry.
Watch out for profanity. Please have FCC clean (Federal Communications Commission) versions available for radio. If your songs have swearing in them, it can make obtaining airplay more difficult. It’s just something to keep in mind.
When sending a physical submission, please send us two or three copies of your CD (depending on which departments you’re interested in). More than one person will probably want to review your CD, and this may have to be done outside the office.
We will try to get back to you as soon as humanly possible. We do promise that we will get back to everyone who submits material via phone, email, or snail mail regarding your submission and you can typically expect to hear from us within 48 hours.
Please remember to include all of your contact information:
Name
Address
Phone Number(s)
Email Address
Best time and place to reach you
When sending a physical submission please include a cover letter containing any information we should know about you. If you don’t have a bio or one sheet, let us know a brief history of your band (including any of the following sorts of things that pertain to you: where you have performed, how often do you perform, how far out are you willing to tour, how many CDs have you recorded, how many CDs you’ve sold, what your immediate goals are for the CD you’re sending…you know, that sort of stuff). No need to send us band photos or expensive packaging...it's unnecessary.
Once you’ve done that just send your submission to:
Tinderbox Music
Attn: Band Submission (please indicate if you're interested in Press, Radio, or Distribution)
3148 Bryant Ave S.
Minneapolis, MN 55408
Or if you'd prefer feel free to submit your material to us via Sonicbids. You will have to sign up for Sonicbids to do so, but we do encourage using their site, it’s great for finding gigs and opportunities!
Remember, if you want to submit your music digitally without signing up for Sonicbids, you can email your music and information directly to patrick (at) tinderboxmusic (dot) com or if you are a Hip Hop or Electronic artist you can submit your music directly to nate (at) tinderboxmusic (dot) com.
