I have to say that Trattoria Gallo Nero provides one of the most authentic experiences in Portland, when it comes to Italian cuisine. The restaurant organized a special event, featuring the wines of Franco Serra, paired with the chef's 4 course meal! The chef, cooks, servers and the rest of the staff are kind and attentive, plus the food is magnificent! Thank you for the wonderful experience! Cheers, Brandon
My mother, sister and I were visiting Portland over Mother's Day and came in for a last-minute dinner. What a delight. First off, our server was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the whole menu, and everything she brought us was delicious. I ordered the pasta pomodoro and it was simple but just spot-on in terms of flavor and texture. My favorite aspect of the meal was the cocktail I ordered. I'm not super knowledgeable about wine - if you are, then you've got lots of options! - so I went for the sfumato and soda cocktail. And it was FANTASTIC. I ordered two of them and when I got home, I asked my husband to recreate it for me. He called the bartender, who gave him the scoop! Super nice. A cool place staffed by good people.
Came in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were able to get a table right away, though I'm sure the situation differs for dinner. They offer a wide variety of authentic Italian food ranging from appetizers, entrees, and dessert. We really enjoyed the meal overall, everything tasted great! I highly recommend you top the meal off with a delicious cappuccino if you still have room.
Had lunch on a weekday. Service was fast and friendly, food ranged from decent lemon chicken that was under seasoned to very good fresh pasta with meat sauce. Soft drinks served in a not quite cold can with no ice. Prices pretty much as you’d expect. Overall about as good as other somewhat upscale places in the area, but not really a standout.
This is a small Italian restaurant with white tablecloths. The service was exceptional and the food was great. I had a pear and cheese ravioli and my husband had the swordfish special. Both were so good. Highly recommend and we will be back.
The food was nice. Not amazing, but good enough. Nice wine selection and a lovely somelier. I thought the ambience could have a little nicer. The lights were very modern on the tables, but then other accents were very traditional. Seemed a bit incongruous.Food: 4/5
What a wonderful restaurant! Shoutout to the very friendly waitress and Davide the owner who made me feel at home. The food is definitely legit, and they had a good selection of Italian wines. I was happy to find some proper pasta that was al dente, delicious! The tiramisù was really good too. Definitely going back!Recommended dishesTiramisu
What a wonderful lunch! I enjoyed the pasta e fagiioli, but omg the salad was the best salad I’ve had in Portland for a long time. Bravo! Will be back
Amazing food, service, and ambiance! My partner and I were traveling and found this gem for dinner. The house made pasta was the best! The sommelier recommended a wine and it was delightful! Everything about the experience was perfect! If you’re in the area, you MUST try this!
Had a great dinner and a good time sitting outside. Waiters were nice and funny. Next time we’ll try the pear Ravioli. Recommend!
