I am a trial lawyer, with offices in midtown Oklahoma City.
Have questions or want to talk? Call me or send an email.
I represent individuals and small businesses in both trials and appeals. My practice centers around one common theme: helping regular people when bad things happen.
Every case is undertaken only if I truly believe in the cause of my client. I did not become a lawyer because it was the fashionable thing to do, or because “I couldn’t get in to medical school” or any other cliché that other lawyers often joke about.
I practice law because 1) I enjoy helping people in need, at crucial times in their life when they cannot help themselves; 2) I am a tenacious advocate, largely because, as stated above, I truly believe in the clients and cases that I take; and 3) I have a personal interest in law and public policy, and can think of no other career that would give me better fulfillment or intellectual stimulation. In other words, I enjoy practicing law, and I do it because I want to. If I didn’t – or if my passion for it ceases – then I’m done and I’ll find something else.
My passion is trial advocacy. I love litigation. Cases that involve an active controversy – as opposed to say, a business transaction – are to me what practicing law is all about. Because every case is a story, and every story is important to that client in a way that cannot be compared to say, selling a piece of real estate.
My job is to listen to your story first. Lawyers are quick to jump to the legal analysis – this is all law school teaches you. I think it’s important to appreciate that each case is a very personal matter affecting the client in a personal way. And once it’s acknowledged that there is a human face behind this file, we can move on to the analysis: Do you even have a claim? Do you have rights and what are they? What is going to happen from this lawsuit? What can happen?
I love dissecting the puzzles of my cases, but I occasionally have to remind myself that a degree of sensitivity is always required with any client. And I strive to maintain that balance of being the strongest advocate of my client's story while also being a trusted advisor on the availability of relief under the law.
