Story

Treeland was established in 1954 by Tony Ferrigno who graduated from the University of Connecticut and majored in Horticulture. After serving in the Air Force as a Lieutenant he, with the help of his father, who was an excellent grower of fine plants for over 40 years, began Treeland.

Treeland started as a small garden center and continued to grow to become one of Connecticut’s leading garden centers with an impeccable reputation as customer-friendly—carrying quality materials all at very low and reasonable prices.


Treeland employs a staff of 20-25 employees which include college graduated horticulturists. Their staff is licensed and registered by the State of Connecticut and have Supervisory licenses in Grounds Keeping (lawn and shrub care) and Supervisory licenses as Arborists (tree care). Treeland also has a weekly radio show on WICC giving gardening information to local residents.


Treeland is a complete garden center who also has a landscape division and a lawn care company. At Christmas time, Treeland becomes a one-stop beautiful Christmas Shop selling 1000s of Christmas decorations from around the world. Treeland also has a large selection of both artificial and live Christmas trees.


Treeland’s community-oriented company is always willing to give time and effort to benefit the public. One of Treeland’s members was not just a member, but a chosen director of the Better Business Bureau of Southwest Connecticut which includes the area from Greenwich, CT to Danbury, CT to New Haven, CT. He held that position for over 10 years. Another member serves as Park Commissioner for a period of 30 years. These are all non-paying positions which have benefited the community.


Treeland’s goal and motto throughout the years has always been focused on customer satisfaction and carrying the finest gardening products at very reasonable prices.


Treeland’s staff is known for always giving the correct advice on all gardening problems whether it be in lawns, plants, shrubs, or trees.
