Doctors were great. Although billing was awful. I never received a bill. I started getting calls from a credit service and I call the hospital and they say they sent 3 bills. I try to confirm my address and they have the right addressI live in an apartment complex, I don't know if my bill went to my neighbors or what happened but they are completely unwilling to try and help me fix this before my next appointment. Genuinely do not understand what happened and i received horrible customer service when I was just attempting to pay my bill through them.
After having a medical emergency I went to Truman it was the closest to where I was. My first impression was that the poor excuse for security in the lobby acting like they were defending the White House was ridiculous. They could see that I was having a medical emergency but proceeded to ask my family and I so many questions till I went off on how I needed to get into the emergency department due to a medical emergency. Once finally getting through to these uneducated on a power trip guards is when my perspective changed. I was treated better than I have been at different hospitals in Kansas City including st Luke’s, ku hospital and even Shawnee mission and nkc. The stag was super attentive and they took amazing care of me. I definitely want to give a shout out to my er nurse EMILY. This young lady has the heart of a St and was so attentive and took amazing care of me. She let me know everything that was happening and what they were going to do to help me. I have never in all my life had such an amazing and wonderful staff of medical professionals ever. Emily thank you so much for all you did and how comfortable you made me feel thank you for everything and I hope you have a wonderful and great career you are an amazing nurse thank you.
I recommend that you record your whole time when visiting the ER. People are human and mistakes in what is written can happen, but the hospital does nothing to fix it. I had COVID and was actually kept in the waiting room with all other patients June 2022. They stated that I mentioned chest pains a lot, when in reality, I mentioned it only once when stating I had to walk from the hotel I was staying at and that it was improving. I presented a prescription from my Dr. back home and they completely ignored it and didn't even reach out to them to confirm anything. Then when I get the bill and try and fight the illegal costs, there only response was "we're checked it ourself and are not changing anything an we're not going to tell you why in any way shape or form." I feel like you need to sue them to get anywhere, which they know you can't do since most people have trouble just paying the bill in the first place.
We are at the gastroenterology or GI clinic at the Holmes location and my fiancé's appointment was for 10:30 am. We were told to be here by 10am, as responsible adults we showed up a little earlier than that at 9:45 am. We were afraid there might be construction or traffic, anyway... It is now 11:33 am and she still has not been called back. This is a procedure she couldn't eat before so she hasn't had anything to eat since Saturday night. Meaning all of Sunday, all of Monday and now into Tuesday has had nothing to eat. Why did they tell us to be here thirty minutes early when clearly they can be over an hour late to even call her back. The lady's at the front desk are discussing what they want to do for lunch as if these patients haven't been starving, one of the lady's at the desk is quite rude to anyone who doesn't speak English and nobody behind the desk seems to know anything about hippa.... Would not recommend at all. Find you a better GI clinic because you deserve better than what they will give you here. Update... The lady behind the desk went and got her lunch and is sitting at the desk eating it in front of these people who can't eat. I find that to be a little insensitive.... Also we were told fifteen more minutes as if the hour and fifteen minutes we've been waiting wasn't long enough and that time as come and passed....update... They just called her back at noon... An hour and a half after her scheduled appointment time....very disappointed in the treatment of all patients in the waiting room and the utter lack of compassion and communication towards the patients....
I had my daughter at this hospital. As far as labor and delivery they have a pretty good unit. All nurses and Doctors were friendly and we both received the care that we deserved. This was however 9 yrs ago and some things may of changed since then.
Worst hospital experience in my entire live!!! Don't come here!!! Staff is rude and unprofessional. It's like they hired all the D and F students who can't get a job at a respectable hospital. Dirty, there was still blood on the floor in my room from God knows how many people before me. Had to wait 6hrs for nothing. I had to go to another hospital, best decision I made was to leave. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy!!!
The care I received was good. The doctors did a great job. However, when it comes to payment through University Health I have never been so frustrated. I set up a payment plan for a large bill and was paying it monthly. I had to set up this payment plan THREE TIMES because every time I would call to pay they would state I didn't have a plan set up. A month later I got a letter from a collections agency for the bill. I called University Health and asked how that was possible after half the bill was paid at this point through my payments. I was told I didn't have a payment plan set up. So I paid that off immediately, but a couple months later I got another letter from a new collections agency for another mystery bill. I called University Health again and they had no record of me owing anything else. I have asked for written proof every time I call and still have received nothing. I will not be going here again just because of the finance department.
I had our first baby here as well, was basically forced to have a c- section. It took me 7 days to even have the baby. I laid in bed 45-hour after my sea section crying pleading in pain that I was waiting to be sent for me to be able to medicate. Staff is very non attentive , meals are made based off whatever they have for the day no substitutions. Not very clean like for babies all I ever seen was a sweep and a mop. I literally hated this hospital , all of the good staff only work once or twice a week, everyone else is bound to have an attitude and make your birth giving experience a night mare. I do appreciate Twila , Lexi , Dr Rowe, the male docotor and a few other nurses I can’t remember names but faces forsure without these ladies/man I would’ve voluntarily left! Don’t waste your time lol just go somewhere else. I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy litearlly! & any company or guest you bring has to pay for there own food. New to me. Only good thing to come from this is my baby! The cutest thing ever !!
Do not go here. They will keep you for 3-4 hours just to rack up a bill then discharge you. Irregardless of the pre-existing conditions prior to entering the hospital. Listen to a pour grandmother explain how negligent the staff and hospital were when providing “service” to her grandson who was in a dire state: https://youtu.be/H2qmQi54hH0?si=0rc4DQeKNjNm4l2b For profit hospitals that put the value of profit over the value of life NEED to be help accountable. I hope this family files a lawsuit against Truman.
My partner is having a dental crisis and has been to the ER 3 times this week in agony. We got quick and very compassionate services from the doctors, nurses and staff. We felt listened to and that the staff here really cares. I took one star away for the abysmal patient parking the hospital ER provides. There is no emergency room parking and the nearest lot is an almost 10 minute walk from the ER entrance, uphill, and a hard walk for me due to arthritis; even with my cane. Other than that I would have given 5 stars.
