Tulips were blooming all over the place. The flowering trees were just getting going but everything was beautiful. They were well-organized, the dancers danced in their wooden shoes, the street sweepers cleaned the streets, and parade had bands from all the local high schools and junior high's. Lunch at the Holland Brewing Company restaurant was quite tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the trolley tour of the city of Holland. The guide was dressed in a beautiful Dutch costume and very knowledgeable about the city, the origins of the festival, and the interesting architecture in Holland.

I thoroughly enjoy coming here. The tulips are beautiful, the parades are enjoyable, the parks are nice and clean but why are some humans so disrespectful? Walking and stepping on tulips, sitting in the street so far that bands are in danger while parading because they can't always see people while playing those big instruments in their face. The parade commission needs to find a way to keep people at the curb. And those walking on tulips need to learn respect.

Just happen to learn about Tulip Time Festival while up for a 3 day trip to South Haven. So we decided to check it out on Sunday. We had no idea Tulips were such a big thing. The town was a little busy but was able to find parking and walk to were they had booths set up and then walked to a few stores and carnival. We were going to go to Windmill island but traffic back up put us off.

First timers, parking is atrocious, they do provide park and ride areas so that is good, parade was good and very long, NO candy tossing though. This was one of several parades and was all area schools (marching bands) and kids dressed in time period clothing. Small carnival area provided by Skerbecks, limited food vendors. We had a good time.

My experience is definitely specific. We were lulled into thinking the kinderplatz would be super fun and while it was a great idea in concept, it's execution left much to be desired. We did this first thing and then had lunch, after which we decided to go to the Dutch village on wind mill island. We had been put off by the cost, but after realizing we hadn't seen any tulips yet thought it would be worth it. When we arrived the line to get in was an eternity, followed by the line to get off the island...ekkk! We made the decision not to get off the bus. Live and learn: Get there early, go to Dutch village first, then figure out the rest.
