This was my family's first time dining here, and we decided to take advantage of the "early dine" specials from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. We were pleased to be seated right away when we arrived at 4:45 the hostess did tell us we needed to vacate the table by 6:30. The variety of options on the early dine menu was excellent, as was the children's menu. I ordered the Parker House Baked Haddock, which came with a choice of side, bread, and choice of soup or salad. The haddock was excellent! I ordered the children's fish and chips for my daughter, and it was generously portioned. Her meal also came with a one-scoop sundae, which wasn't outstanding, but it definitely made her day! Kid-friendliness: The children's menu is excellent. It offers small portions of a few normal menu items salmon, fish and chips, hamburger, etc, as well as kid-specific items, such as plain pasta with butter. All kid's entrees come with a one-scoop sundae.
This was my first visit, although I’ve been wanting to go for years. It did not disappoint. Our server, Nicole, was outstanding. The bread was soft and the seasoned olive oil dip was phenomenal. I had the Prime Rib, Caesar Salad, and a mix of vegetables squash, zucchini, carrots, green beans. The meal was excellent, and the meat was tender and flavorful. Looking forward to returning.
My friend and I went for an early dinner and truly enjoyed it! The service was quick and friendly and the food was yummy! We ordered from the daily special menu and the entree came with soup or salad.Food: 5/5
Great place to grab a burger and fries. The burger was almost the best I had but it was really good. 2nd place for this place on the burgers........ I wish they did a challenge. Ask for Whitney she is awesome and the best service......Food: 5/5
Stopped in for a beverage and a few apps at the bar. Coconut shrimp but sauce was weird...the RI calamari had a lot of heads and min pepperoncini. Coming from RI that is not RI claamari...Food: 3/5
Well frustration is what we felt after eating here. Food was good, but only after we sent the filet back twice to be cooked as it had been ordered. Flavors are lacking. Luckily we had a very good waiter. Just wish we could had eaten dinner at the same time. Not sure if we'd return.Food: 2/5
I have been coming here for the last 20 years and always enjoyed the time but this Sunday I had a terrible experience. Don't order the prime rib. Very tough, less than average flavor and not really shaped like cut prime rib. I've had it in the past and it was good. I was by myself and sat at a high top table in the bar area. It was featured at $30.00. I also had the crab bisque, Ceasars salad and a Manhattan, sounds like a nice $55 meal. When I told bartender/server gentleman that I was disappointed with the prime he repeatedly acted surprised, said everyone liked it and did I want him to take it away not explaining what that meant. I said, no I'll continue to try it. Was only able to eat half of it. When he came to clear my table in a very sarcastic and flippant manner walked away continuing to tell me how much the earlier guests enjoyed it. Never did he show any consideration for my complaint. I travel, I eat out a lot and have been in the hospitality food service owning and operating businesses for the last 35 years. I would not tolerate this type of service. Just thought the owner, Eddie, might want to know.
University Grill has been a favorite for more than a decade. I got to know the wait staff and the manager, who was helpful in planning the menu for an annual dinner I hosted and for which I reserved the back room. He even printed branded, curated menus for our group. But he retired. Earlier this week, I finally met the new guy. What a disappointment! When I told him I'd like to reserve the private room, he handed me his email address. When I told him that his predecessor and I planned the menu, etc., he interrupted me and contemptuously said, "All that went out the window with previous manager!" Wow! Then he said the new cost for the room is DOUBLE what it used to be. I handed back the written email address and told him I wouldn't be needing it. Goodbye, University Grill!
Nice place work decent to high prices. Stopped in on Monday at 7ish for beer and cocktails. The food prices aren't bad. Happy hour is from 4 to 630 and all day on Wednesday. Our server, PM BAR , was friendly and attentive.Service: 5/5
