Where do I start... This is by far the best Medical Staff I've come across in many years. My wife had a appointment there. We we're made to feel comfortable from the time we entered the front door! The receptionist at the front Esmeralda was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Irvin Ma is EXCEPTIONAL! The absolute best Dr. I've ever had the pleasure to meet. He asked a lot of pertinent questions. Explained everything so we could understand. Answered every question, even when I had a couple, with simple an to the point answers. I was so impressed with this young man that as soon as he has a opening for new patients I'll definitely be making this Doctor my new primary physician! An his assistant is superb! Wife needed blood drawn an never even felt it, and my wife hates needles.
I really wanted to give this clinic a good review because the resident doctor and actual doctor were friendly, helpful and seemed knowledgeable. I initially went in to see a doctor just to get my thyroid checked and long behold received a surprising bill for $451, even after my insurance covered a big portion of this visit. They charged me for tests that I did not authorize and tried to bill me for two office visits when I only had one. I am waiting for someone to call me back to give me a detailed explanation for these extra charges. As a patient, everyone should know your rights and look at the “No Surprise Act” where they need to disclose what services they are providing and in good faith estimated cost. If you did not authorize those services, you a have right to dispute the charges or lawyer up. I too work for a medical facility and the only reason I did not go to the one I worked at was due to them not having any appointments available until the end of this year. This is just so frustrating on many levels. Update 9-9-22: Now they are saying based on the Doctor’s diagnosis, the charges are valid when all I went in for was just to get my thyroid checked. I have never had to deal with such a mess when it comes to being billed for medical services. Unfortunately, I will never be coming back to this facility and hope no one endures the same dishonesty when it comes to being billed for what you actually visited the doctor for. Beware of the additional charges that you did not authorize.
I switched jobs in September 2022 and had to get new health insurance. I proactively scheduled an appointment with UCHealth Lowery in November 2022 to establish a record, and to provide my medications so that they could be refilled when I needed them in late Dec/early January. I went in, had an appointment, and paid nearly $600 for the appointment. The doctor established my record and told me to call the office when I needed a refill. They even took a blood test to determine if my medication needed an adjustment - which it didn't because the doctor called me days after the appointment to say that my blood work came back fine and we would continue the same medication dosage. When I called UCHealth in early January to have my medications refilled, I was told me I needed to come back in for an appointment. I explained that I already had an appointment in November specifically to ensure I could have my medication refilled, and was stonewalled - told again to come in for an appointment. After a second frustrating call and being told my medication would not be refilled, I had to run out an an urgent care to have my prescriptions refilled while I schedule with a new PCP. Today is the first day of my life that I had to call my insurance company to file a complaint against my DOCTOR. I can't believe I even typed that sentence. Either the doctor lied to me about being able to refill my medication, or the nurse is trying to pull me for another appointment and for more money. Whatever the reason, it's completely unacceptable and will make me never want to deal with UCHealth again.
My first impression was good however that has changed. In 2 months I’m up to $2k in bills. My last appointment was a disaster. My ECG was done by someone who had no clue what they were doing she kept on changing the electrodes and seemed nervous. The doctor looked at it and said my heart was fine. When I got home, results were put in my uc health app and said I had pathological results. For hours I tried to call every hour I tried and left a message because nobody would come to the phone to get in touch with anyone to get an explanation but not one call back. I am freaking out that I am on the verge of heart failure. In the evening the doctor finally calls to apologize and say my heart is fine and another doctor had put that there. Besides that I’m prescribed medication I don’t want and half of it I don’t need. I leave and don’t even pick up one of it. The other does absolutely nothing so when I message the doctor about this a few days later, the response is: discuss it with the doctor on your next appointment. I pay $500 every time I see someone here and I can’t change my insurance until November. This place is not qualified and only cares about your wallet. Let my experience speak for that. I am not helped at all and still wonder about my ECG. But to find out I need to spend a lot more money first.
Whitney,NP at the Lowry campus is truly excellent! She responds to my portal messages quickly. I had a horrible sinus and lung infection. I am allergic to several antibiotics. She took the time to look at clinical research to help her make the best decision about which antibiotic to choose for me. I immediately felt better and my infections have started to get better. I,too, am an NP. Believe me, I know a bad one from a good one. Whitney Kirkpatrick V. Is truly excellent. You won’t find this amongst all NP’s at UCHEALTH. But Whitney is exceptional. At a new patient visit at UCHealth Lowry, I met with Nurse Whitney who was nice and knowledgeable, and then I had some blood drawn. It was the worst blood draw I have ever had. The tech doing the blood draw, whose name I never knew, caused me considerable pain during the draw and caused significant bruising on my inner elbow. Later that day, when I got home, a new large bruise formed on the back of my wrist of that same arm. I called the clinic to ask if that was normal, and they suggested that I schedule an online appointment with a doctor and show the doctor the new bruising. I did that and she said it was unusual but probably not serious. I paid for the new patient visit and the blood work, but then, a few weeks later, I was sent another invoice for $195 for that online consult, despite the fact that the only reason I had to speak to that doctor was because UC Health's technician damaged my arm during a blood draw! When I called their billing office to complain, they asked me to "send the charge back for review". After that, nothing happened so in the end I paid the bill to protect my credit. That new patient visit I made became the first and last time that I use this clinic.
Immoral with billing practices, no good faith estimates, not following no surprise act, at every turn we are rerouted to someone else and never given a straight answer. We are currently getting the BBB involved along with taking every step for justice of these incompetent people.
Dr. Jones and her team have been so compassionate and caring with me as I navigate a variety of medical challenges! I would recommend her to anyone! UC Health has been very easy to work with and do their best to navigate a very challenging system!
Our doctor saw us on time, was attentive to what we had to say and sent us home with written instructions. I had a concern about having my medical records accessible no mater where I went so she checked my 'Care Everywhere' and there they were, complete and accessible.
This clinic is great. Everything about my experience was easy and painless. There was no first visit paperwork to fill out, and the front desk personnel were super friendly and helpful. Marina and Dr. Schultz were both very compassionate, kind, and attentive. It is good to meet a doctor who listens so well yet offers great insight into areas of health a patient might not have considered before. Finally everything was very prompt and efficient, but I never felt rushed. Keep up the great work!
