Need to make your workers Park in the working spot not up front where the patients supposed to park we don't have a place to park because of the workers 90 percent of the parking or the workers and I just saw security passed through and then one walkthrough but you know they used to everybody parking here so nobody says anything but what about the sick and the handicap. 10 29 22 back again I see nothing has changed and the lady that work the booth for the parking get some education please duh
My son was transferred from Slidell Memorial with trauma to his shoulder, hand, foot and face from a fall. He was brought to University by ambulance. He was put in what was like a cell. He wasn't given a call light to call for help if he needed it. He would have to yell for someone to come and help him. He wasn't given anything for pain until they popped his shoulder into place. He arrived at University a little after noon on Monday 11/21/2022. He didn't receive x-rays until after 7:00pm. He spent the entire night in the trauma center with no assistance. No one could be with him. On Tuesday morning the finally put a cast on his hand and put his shoulder back in place because he had dislocated it. Then they sent him back to this little as he put it cell. They didn't give him anything for pain. He had finally had enough so at 1:30 pm on Tuesday he demanded that they release him. I would not even bring my dog there. It was dirty and smelly. You would think that a new facility would be better but it isn't. DON'T GO THERE!!. My son said that he will die first before going back there.
My hospital stay was good and the staff was not bad. That’s why I gave 2 stars. I have no complaints about UMC’s hospital. I do have an issue with Dr. Michael Cook. He enjoys belittling and talking down to patients. I went for my 2 week follow up and he was HORRIBLE to me. I refuse to see him again. I asked him, in a message, how I can change to a new physician. If I do not get a response or I cannot do so, I will not go back for anymore follow ups. He really is a horrible person.
Saw Dr Tuggle after a car accident that caused me to need reconstructive surgery on my wrist. Could not have been more satisfied with the care I received, and truly feel that Dr Tuggle’s passion for what he does, attention paid to patients, etc is the revolution healthcare so desperately needs.
If you don’t want to read all of this, then just read this part: DO NOT COME HERE Hopefully you take the time to read the reviews before coming to the hospital. Especially this hospital. A family member came in with severe pain yesterday morning8:30ish, was given blood work and a test and left to sit on the waiting room floor until he gave up and decided to leave. The nurses kept telling him different people to go to try and get discharged and he never ended up with actual paperwork to leave. He left here at 4:30 ish pm. At 2:30 am we called to get an ambulance as the pain had returned and gotten worse. I’m sitting here typing this out at 2:35 PM. Meaning we have sat here another 12 hours. At noon they said he had 5 people in front of him waiting on getting help and that number is now 10. There are other people here who have been waiting over 24 hours just sitting in the waiting room. They have had people come in with chest pains that have been waiting over 12 hours. They have paramedics, not nurses or doctors, but paramedics checking on people. Mind you we tried getting him an ambulance this morning, they said it would “be a while” and we had to UBER HERE. We are .2 miles away and had to Uber. We get here and there are 4 ambulances parked. I understand being a big city with a high crime rate but when you have people sitting here, not talking to anyone, in the condition that they are in it gets ridiculous. If you only get one thing from this, let it be to not come here. You honestly are better off going to another hospital, or even trying to find yourself a doctor.
10/10 absolutely fantastic service Had to go to the ER while down here on vacation I was in a bed in the ER in less than an hour, staff was extremely friendly- candid- and comforting. I wish I recalled all the staff members’ names that provided services and help; everyone deserves a shoutout. They fixed my problems in less than 24 hrs with specialists and doctors so I can continue my vacation! 10/10. Great people. When the staff members learned I was a tourist- multiple staff provided written lists of recommended attractions, restaurants, etc!! Super nice. Southern hospitality yeehaw
I went to the emergency triage because I was having level 10 pain 1 to 10 coming from my abdominal area and pain in my lower back. In the span of 6 hours, I only had blood work done, my x-rays had not been ordered, people who came 3 hours after me were able to receive xrays b4 me. I think it's really sad that one person im not sure if they were a nurse or doctor determines who receives care first without running test. The staff in the front were nice but this institution is a disgrace to the healthcare system.
If i could give 0 stars i would. Absolutely horrendous treatment from both the nurses and the techs. Treated my brother vile after a terrible work fall, multiple injuries, and head serious head trauma. Nurses refused to bathe him after multiple requests. Nurses made disgusting comments about him having accidents in his bed even though he was literally incapable of using the bathroom on his own.— Made racist comments about him dating a white girl. One particular nurse after complaining about administering medication her job lol and arguing with my family stepped outside of our room to make nasty comments to her coworker about how we “don’t know where she’s from, she’s from Atlanta and she would clock off right now to fight us”. After countless horrendous surgeries, trauma, and pain— nurses still went out of their way to treat my brother and my family awfully. In addition to all these horrifying encounters, the surgeon himself did an absolute chop job on both of his wrists that ended up becoming infected just a month later. This hospital should literally not be operating at all. I’m actually traumatized from not only the fall, but experience itself with University Medical Center.
UMC's standard of care is below any I've ever seen and the administration should answer for the failure. There is absolutely no way to reach an individual on staff if you have a question or need assistance, before, during, or after treatment. In hospital rooms, there are no buttons or systems with which to get help or assistance. A single nurse is the only person assigned to an entire wing. I never cared who I sought care from before, but from beginning to end, my experience with this hospital has made me promise myself not to interact with the network in any capacity. It truly struck fear into me imagining how many people could be harmed due to simple carelessness. I don't blame the nurses or doctors, I blame the administration and the criminal understaffing of this hospital.
Came in with 5 broken bones including my left leg being a severe compound fracture and had 10 surgeries including a skin graft and they did a great job with what they had to get done. After I got out of the hospital a month later the workman's comp is a different deal on my follow up.
