I am a student here and I will graduate by the end of this year! I have already been internship at the clinic. I have always liked Chinese medicine very much. I didn't expect to have a chance to become a professional acupuncturist in the United States. I am very grateful to the school having Chinese class too, which solved my very big trouble!
I am a student at University of East-West Medicine. The school environment is great with passionate and knowledgable professors. Competitive tuition and program offering night and weekend classes are great. I highly recommend this program if you want to become an acupuncturist.
I have been going to the University of East West medicine for close to twenty years. I have referred most of my friends and family to this institution over the years when they have had medical problems, that were not getting resolved. I have been treated with Acupuncture, Chi gong, cupping, Chiropractic adjustments, massages, herbs for rashes and had successful treatments for TMJ. After going there for 17 years, I have never been disappointed. Everyone is kind, compassionate, patient and professional. Dr. Wang the Founder, has studied Eastern and Western medicine for over 40 years and is amazing at diagnosing problems with his finger tips - he is fantastic. I encourage anyone and everyone to call this school for an appointment as I am confident you won’t be disappointed Your first visit is free and if you need to continue treatment there, the cost is less than what you would pay for a meal.
I was dealing with severe back pain due to metastatic prostate cancer when I decided to take acupuncture treatment. That’s because I believe in the effectiveness of acupuncture as a complementary treatment to enhance my healing process. I researched for the best acupuncturist near me to deal with my condition. It wasn’t until I found the name of Dr. Wang from the University of East and West Medical clinic that I made a decision. It was his specialization of treating difficult diseases that prompted me to choose him as my acupuncturist, and I did not regret it. Within 3 months of my western treatment, my condition improved dramatically. Even though I was taking chemotherapy, my energy got better as my back-pain decreased dramatically. My latest CT scan showed that cancer has stopped spreading and my PSA dropped down from 578 to 24. While I can give credit to chemotherapy, I firmly believe that Dr. Wang’s treatment that helped enhance my improvement without experiencing negative side-effects, such as loss of hair, nausea, vomiting, and loss of energy and appetite. Also, there was a time when I pulled a groin muscle and the pain of it made it hard to move in and out of bed. My Oncologist brought up the possibility of having a radiation treatment, which I refused. When Dr. Wang learned about it, he immediately gave me an acupuncture treatment, and in one week, the pain was gone, and I was back to my normal active self again. Dr. Wang explained to me how acupuncture opens up the “gates” in certain parts of my body to allow for the normal flow of energy to be released and thus help my body heal itself. He also taught me the benefits of healing Qigong exercises that I should practice daily to keep the gates open to achieve a healthier body with stronger immune system. Dr. Wang’s treatment is holistic. In our sessions he encourages the importance of having a positive outlook in life. He advises the right supplement to take and encourages a clean diet. I am even delighted to learn that Dr. Wang and I share the same philosophy, that if you think healthy, your body will start following your thought processes. Perhaps the best lesson that I derived from his treatment is that, if I take care of myself as a person, I also take care of the health of planet earth and that of the universe. And I like that for I am convinced that the reason why I am experiencing a lot of energy now is to give something back to my Source by doing volunteer works, giving dance lessons again, and expressing happiness and gratitude wherever I am, as often as I can. Thank you. Dr. Wang!
I am a student in this school for a few year and I will graduate soon. I have always been full of vitality and passion for Chinese medicine, and I chose University of East-West Medicine among many other Chinese medicine schools in the Bay Area. Not only because it provide us with a clean and superior learning environment, but also provide us with the most well educated and knowledgeable teachers. I am very glad to find such a good school of Traditional Chinese Medicine. After these years of study, I got a lot of unexpected gains in school. It's a great school which totally deserve the five stars rating. Every teacher has his unique teaching skills and many years of excellent teaching experiences. For example, Professor Wan has taught acupuncture for decades. His teaching skills are interesting and vivid, and he always make it easy for us to remember those acupuncture points that are difficult to memorize by telling us interesting short stories and acupuncture point songs. Professor Zhang is humorous, the case analysis is clear and easy to understand. The Traditional Chinese Medicine Tuina taught by Dr. Wang was amazingespecially the extra ordinary acupuncture points have remarkable analgesic effect. I really appreciate all the unique techniques that I have learned from this school. I hope I can use the knowledge of TCM I have learned to help more people in need.
Three months ago I felt the pain of my elbow intermittently. I thought it was tennis elbow because I play badminton almost every day. A friend of mine recommend me the clinic of UEWM at the time I couldn't put up with the pain. Fortunately I met Dr. Wang, who has about 50 years experience as a professional acupuncturist. He checked with me the exact points of the pain. Then he told it was Radial Head Subluxation, not tennis elbow! And the good news was it is easier to cure than tennis elbow. After the intern gave me careful acupuncture treatment, Dr Wang came in again. He just pushed, pulled and rotated my upper arm much wider, and it was so fast that I can't even remember what were the exact action. The thing was NO PAIN any more in a few seconds!!! It is so amazing!!! Not only the affordable price or the professional treatment in the clinic I want to mention, but the fantastic oriental medical mode really deserve your try!
UEWM has dedicated faculties and a hospitable environment that fosters students learning Traditional Chinese Medicine. Along with this, UEWM staff have been extremely nice and the professors are knowledgeable. It offers affordable tuition and an inclusive student-centered climate that prepares excellent medical education. I started my part-time Master program 3 years ago. The school offers evening and weekend classes so it doesn't affect my daily work and life. I enjoy my experience at UEWM, and learned a lot that prepared me for my success as a medical professional. If you want to learn Traditional Chinese Medicine, get a good degree, and have a college experience with a moderate state school feel, you should definitely come.
In the afternoon on April 19, 2017, I came to University of East West Medicine hoping to find a doctor who could treat my post-concussion headache caused by a rear-ended car accident in February. When I learned that Dr. Wang knew how to open the gates in the body, I was willing to give a try. After the car accident happened in February 2017, I had a severe headache and could not sleep in the night. I went to Stanford Emergency Care, seeing the doctors in Stanford Emergency Department, my primary doctor, and the doctors in Stanford Concussion Clinic. They could not find the reasons causing the headache. The only medicine I received was Tylenol. From February to April, I took 42 pills of Tylenol and 11 pills of Motrin. But it only temporarily relieved the pain. The doctor in the Concussion Clinic gave me a referral form so I could find a therapist near me. But the Therapist canceled the appointment the day before the appointment because the approval from my medical insurance was not received. My work requires a lot of brain thinking which caused a constant severe headache. I became nervous in the day and was not able to concentrate while I was working. I was afraid of the symptoms I had: severe headache, insomnia, depression, and lower back pain caused by the car accident. I heard a friend recently had a car accident and his headache was cured in the University of East-West Medicine. That was why I came to University of East-West Medicine. I was glad that I met Dr. Wang on April 19, 2017. Dr. Wang checked my neck and said that I need to have an X-ray on the neck and spine because the blood circulation in the head was not smooth. He said that I looked very depressed. With Dr. Wang’s referral, I took X-Ray in Image Center. The report of the X-Ray says “Hyper-mobility on extension at the C3/4 level…” The X-ray report indicated that my spine cord at C3/4 had shifted 2mm which caused headache. On April 21 I brought the X-Ray report and CD of the X-Ray to Dr. Wang. Since then I visited Dr. Wang three times a week for a few weeks. After that I received treatment twice a week. He gave me acupuncture, hot Chinese medicine bag, massage, and opening the body gates. I started to join Chi Gong class. From Chi Gong class, I learned Herguan quantum glorious universe and the beauty of the harmony between universe and human body. How the energy of the universe can come into human body and drives away the pains and diseases after the body gates are opened. Every night before I go to bed I practiced 30 minutes Chi Gong that Dr. Wang taught in the class. I was able to sleep deeply in the night since I practiced Chi Gong. I stopped taking Tylenol and Motrin. I noticed that after three weeks treatment my walking steps were faster than before. The energy came back to my body. I was able to smile naturally. The most important was my headache reduced from level 7-8 to level 2-3. I was able to concentrate when I was working. After a five months treatments, the pain in the head was under the control. Depression and lower back pain disappeared. Dr. Wang noticed that my blood pressure was high since the first day I came to the clinic. My blood pressure was normal before the car accident. After one month treatment from Dr. Wang, the blood pressure became normal. To my surprise was my headache had a big improvement since then. I felt no more sharp pain in the head. The intern students in the University of East West Medicine are kind and care the patients. I am impressed for their professional attitude, knowledge, diligent, and eager to learn.
The school deserves a five star rating because the combination of varies factors makes this school a preferred place to be. It has a large Chinese language program, probably the largest in California. Both Master's and Doctorate programs in both English and Chinese languages are accredited by the U.S. Department of Education. The tuition is competitive. The location is excellent. Most importantly, it has a very high passing rate for the state acupuncture license exam.
