I have had several negative experiences at this bookstore that were mildly annoying over my three years at UGA, but didn't merit bothering with a review. However, my experience this morning was the worst, and I strongly feel that UGA needs to discontinue their use of Follet to run their stores. Follet is a terrible company that price gouges students, uses dishonest advertising (they do not actually price match books), and does not contribute positively to the UGA community. This morning, my bf and I had to argue with them to honor their return policy, simply because the store failed to train more than one person to perform an administrative task that was separate from the actual return process. They admitted that we could return our item, but the person who could do this special extra step was on vacation, and the manager on duty wanted us to come back in a few days when that person would be around. WTH? Huge inconvenience! After 10 minutes of them telling us excuses, guilt tripping us (one employee who was not familiar with the stores own return policy kept trying the use the “we're doing you a favor” line, when in fact, they were not), and providing insincere apologizes, we finally convinced the manager to process our return and allow the special lady to do her magic once she returns. By then my bf was visibly angry and I was almost in tears. Just terrible. Come on UGA, you can do better than this company.

I went in to purchase a 4 pack (one package) of triple A batteries. I noticed there were not any on the shelf. However, they had a 2-pack triple A on the shelf for $3.99 each. I thought well surely I would pay the price of the 4-pack of triple A batteries which was $5.99. NOPE. The first lady I spoke to at the book registers said they could not change prices because it messes up their system? The second lady I spoke with at the customer service desk did not offer to see if they had any in stock only mentioned that it would be out on the shelf if the had it. It made no sense that I paid $8 for the same amount of batteries as the 4 pack at $6. Also, for their price match system they don't change the price...they just give you a gift card for the difference.
