I stayed here for a couple weeks in 2018 after getting shot in the neck. I only lasted 2 weeks here before passing dirty and forced to sleep outside. I got ran over by a cargo train and almost lost my life. The idea of this place is great and if you use it for what it's for you could go a long way. Unfortunately the toxicity of most people and constantly always being around people in the same situation only made it easier to make bad decisions. I do however miss the staff I had during that time and only hope the ppl I knew are doing well
Amazing resource for our homeless youth. DEAR MR. PRESIDENT, OUR AMERICAN HOMELESS YOUTH RESOURCE CENTERS/CHARITIES NEED MASSIVE MILLIONS TOO SO THEY CAN HELP OUR YOUTH SURVIVE AND GET THE HELP THEY NEED AND DESERVE TOO. URBAN PEAK WOULD SURELY PUT THE ADDITIONAL FUNDING TO GREAT USE. THEY TRULY ARE A BLESSING. I ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO SUPPORT THEM. PLEASE JOIN ME IN HELPING THEM RIGHT NOW BY DONATING "NEW" WASH CLOTHES, BATH TOWELS, GUYS/GIRLS UNDERGARMENTS, AND GUYS/GIRLS HYGIENE PRODUCTS. GOD BLESS AND APPRECIATE THOSE WHO WILL DONATE DIRECT TO URBAN PEAK OR HAVE PREVIOUSLY. EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS. LOVE AND PEACE.
This shelter provides help to homeless youth. I volunteered here for a work event and the kids were amazing. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Everything was amazing. It felt good to help, but the facility truly does good in the Denver community and had for thirty years. They need volunteers, donations and funding!
The staff here deserves all the recognition in the world. They are so dedicated to the kids here. I really hope they know how much they are appreciated.
My son and I volunteered for lunch yesterday and it was a great experience. We will definitely be back, more ppl should help out there! All the kids were very respectful and thankful. They need volunteers everyday, and it will be a great use of 2 hrs get ur families involved
i caught the owner of this place i think his name is ben? smoking out of a bubble pipe behind the nearby 7/11 with one of minors that stayed here. sus place man
I can tell you definitively... this place makes a difference in the lives of so many youths! They offer job counseling, GED courses, room and board, and meals. I’ve seen people go from drugs to drill sergeant here. Kids who’ve been abandoned because of their sexual preferences find peace here, and I’ve seen people go in to educate themselves, work hard, have kids, and climb to a quality of life they’d never have known if not for the physical, and metaphorical shelter this place provides.
They help you when you show them that you want help. Having someone outside of Urban peak advocating for you can definitely help you out. The staff there lack the ability to team up and communicate with each other which affects the work environment for them which affects the living environment for youth. It can often be extremely frustrating but fairly easy to get past. This place is a homeless shelter. Not a hotel. Not an indefinite place to stay till you're 21. Staying there for more then 8 months is ill advised. The youth are fairly welcoming and nice. Though you should not take that as an opportunity to make friends. This is not a place to make friends. You earn your meals and shelter by doing chores. If you do not do your chores there are consequences. The chores they have you do is not slave work. You sweep and mop. You wipe down tables. You change the trash. Simple things like that. Don't do drugs. Don't get into fights don't get involved don't cop an attitude. Show them you want to help better yourself and your experience should be problem free.
Youth Homeless Shelter in Denver. The small shelter for young homeless in Denver does great for the community in meed the most. If you can afford to take donations of food in large quantities like fruits & snacks this place really helps a loy of young at risk youth in Denver.
We serve a couple nights a year at dinner. Grilled burgers and hot dogs with beans, coleslaw and all the fixings. Staff and clients are always kind and appreciate our efforts. Very least we can do.
