The agents at the Rockefeller Center PO are terrific. I've used this location for 23 years and I have always been served by a friendly, intelligent, and patient agent. If you don't agree, try saying "hello" and smiling and you'll be rewarded with a more than pleasant few minutes.
A woman with a heart tattoo on her face harassed me, calling me names. I presented my license and they refused to accept it despite the USPS website clearly referring to a state issued license as a valid form of ID.
I usually don't go to this post office and looking up the address I saw a bunch of negative reviews, but I had a great experience. There was a woman helping people standing in line, she did wonders with her handheld device and the machine on the side. The line didn't grow longer than a couple of people because of the speed at which she was dealing with the individuals. Amazing. I would have given six stars if that was an option.
Extremely slow service. The stamp store where they also sell money orders was closed I'm assuming she was on break when I arrived. I waited on the long service line and as I was the third person to reach the counter, was told to go in the stamp store for the money order. By the time I walked over to the stamp store, I was the third person in line and it took even longer since it was only one cashier as oppose to three on the other line. So frustrating!! This cashier was apologetic and nice though, which is not always the case.
Not sure why so many bad reviews. The staff here is so nice especially Diane doing the passports. She squeezed me in even though she is a few minutes shy of her lunch break and I told her we were getting 2 passports! She was very patient even when I had my two kids paperwork all mixed up and even told me where I can go to get a cell phone signal! I don’t write reviews often but I just want to give this post office staff some recognition because I didn’t see the bad stuff other people wrote about.
Always a great experience here! Efficient and lovely staff. Donna is really wonderful. When I had to get my passport picture taken, she made sure I liked the photograph before proceeding to print. She also helped me ship my package using the self-stamp machines, so that I wouldn't have to wait online.
I had a most horrible experience with a clerk here. I had to ship several boxes so went to this post office. I waited for 20 min in line to be served, and when my turn came, a young clerk lady told me to take all my boxes to the back to fill in the customs form when there was an ample empty space next to her window. I had many boxes, so I quickly filled in the form at the empty area and went back to her, then she told me to go back in the line and wait another 20 min because I "didn't listen to her." She refused to take my boxes and told me she is never going to serve me so "go somewhere else". very very rude. wonder how she treat customers like this and keep her job. I am filing an official complaints.
What a way to end my trip to New York City! The rudest employees I've ever encountered. Diane is a perfect example why federal employees get a bad rep. My sister needed to ship some items home and needed to tape the box. My post office and my sister's, which is located in a different area, would have taped it for us. This one made us stand in line to purchase tape before going to another one to mail. Rude customer said I skipped when I was standing with my sister in line. We made sure to correct her erroneous assumption.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Every time I set foot in this post office, I am struck by how unfriendly and unhelpful the employees are. I have not had any problems mailing things until now. In efforts to keep the endless line moving, a post office employee took my envelope and used the self-service kiosk for me. However, despite seeing her there every time I go to the post office, she obviously has no idea how certified mail works. She printed out the postage and gave me my certified mail tracking receipt but the tracking DOES NOT WORK. UNFRIENDLY and USELESS.
It’s not that the people who work here are rude but it certainly seems like they are just trying their hardest to be the opposite of helpful and kind. Twice now I’ve come in to renew my passport and twice I’ve been nonchalantly waved to the forms, filled one out, waited in a line I was pointed to just to be told “it’s the wrong line, go wait there, that’s the wrong form, we keep the right one behind the counter” both times I asked for the forms and where to line up, both times dismissively pointed to the wrong place and then redirected like it’s no big deal after wasting 30 minutes. No one who comes here is expecting anything extraordinary, just some efficient service would be appreciated.
