History! This one didn't see battle; that's not what it was meant for. It was to test and improve upon designs, technology, tactics, etc. A little innovator. The self guided tour was great! Only one level is open to tour. Tight spots so be careful. There's a small gift shop and museum and on the other side a memorial garden that really is worth appreciating.

Very cool exhibit about the history of American submarines. The Albacore was used for testing new design ideas and was the first torpedo shaped sub. Walk through the submarine, press buttons, sit down in the cockpit, have a great time. I’ve gone dozens of times in the past 20 years and it is always worth visiting again. Definitely take the time to watch the intro video to understand the importance of this piece of history.

A really interesting feel for what it's like living and working inside a submarine. As you walk from the front to back of the submarine you get to see the sleeping quarter, showers (1/week per person) and toilets, small kitchen and common area, engine room, scope and communication and control room. What was interesting was all the hardware and pipes to make this thing work! Highly recommend!

This submarine memorial is great! If you are near you need to visit. A modest entry fee gets admission to explore a real submarine at your own pace. A self guided tour is supplimented with audio narrative that is accessed by pushing buttons located at various locations in the ship. The narratives are informative and interesting and they include first-hand experience from service men who were present. Nothing held back you can look through the periscope and sit behind the wheel. There is also a small museum and short movie to watch. And a gift shop.

I really enjoyed visiting here. The self-guided tour is top notch, but I would just say that it's worth the visit if only to get a sense of scale that the 50+ crew members of this particular vessel had to deal with! Tiny beds, packed in like sardines... Gives you even more respect for the folks who lived in conditions that the rest of us can't even begin to imagine! Well worth the trip
