Uzuri Braids

Mediocre service, my appointment was initially cancelled with very short notice. When I returned for a second stint my stylist barely communicated with me and my braids were atrocious. I wouldn’t recommend this place to an enemy! Stay clear of this place.

My low rating is because I did not get the sisterlocks experience I was hoping for even though I got the bill . My last visit, the receptionist was assigned to retighten my hair. I'm really hurt and there is so much more to unload but I'm just going to say this after breathing and giving myself a couple of weeks to remove any emotions from my review... If you don't feel the owner connects with you, don't return. Please. No matter what. I believe that because its their establishment, they have a right to how they feel and want to treat you, and if you choose to stay or go, it's up to you because you have a right to your expectations and being treated fairly or not. On the flip side, if the owner connects with you, you'll have a great experience. Most of them seem experienced, the only sad thing is that they are inconsistent with services rendered to their customers. Believe the good and bad reviews because both are true. When it is good, it is good; when it is bad, by golly, it is horrid. I miss my previous hair stylist. She was and still is the bomb! I was with her for over 10 years and enjoyed heartwarming customer service and personalized care. Oh well. I'll continue to search and pray for a connection with a sisterlocks consultant.

I have been with this shop for over 20 years! The owner Denise is very lovable and caring so are her stylists. We talk about current issues and old school music. I LOVE IT! You Must Come and Get You Hair Done !

I really enjoyed my time at Uzuri Braids. I had an 8:00 appointment on a Saturday, and my braider Sharon, took me on time, I really loved and appreciated that. She asked me about the style I wanted, and I showed her pictures that I had screenshot, in my phone. Then she got to work! I felt at ease. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere. I felt relaxed and at home there. The owner was also there offering her expertise. The other ladies there made me laugh with their stories and jokes. Nice music set the great mood in the salon. My style tyrned out beautifully. It went fast, only 2.5 hours. I got a style using only my own natural hair, which is probably how it went so quickly. I definitely want to return! Thanks to all the ladies there! Thank you Sharon!

Ms. Denise and her staff took such good care of my son's hair. He got great service and advice about his dreadlocks.

LOOK NO FURTHER! GO TO THIS SALON! I was scrambling to find someone to braid my hair for my birthday when my original stylist backed out last minute. I'm not originally from DC and I wasn't sure where to go. I called up and spoke to the owner, Miss Denise who squeezed me in for an appointment. Her salon was very busy, which I took as a good sign - and my gut was definitely right. I waited a few minutes but it was WELL WORTH the wait. I was nervous after receiving very high price estimates upwards of $100 for the two simple French braids I wanted due to the fact "my hair is difficult to work with" I am Caucasian. I am also very tender headed and I previously had very bad experiences with rough stylists. Miss Denise was fast, gentle, and precise. I was in and out in less than an hour. I could not be happier with the results!!! My braids are ON. POINT. See photos I posted. Also, she charged me the same amount as the other ladies that were there and there was no fee for my "difficult hair" like the other salons tried to charge me. I will definitely be returning to her salon when I come back to the DMV. I also want to point out that I was feeling very disheartened when I found out the lady I had bought my hair from took advantage of my inexperience and I hate to say it but quite frankly my race as well. Miss Denise couldn't use the hair I initially brought with me but she got the PERFECT color for me from the back and didn't charge me anything extra. Despite the $300 wasted earlier in the day, Miss Denise and her salon/service made my birthday 100x times better. PS Bring cash for tip because these stylists deserve it with the work they do!!! I feel awful that I was in a rush to catch an Uber and I ran out without tipping Miss Denise will definitely be receiving her tip in the mail

The owner/primary braiding woman was VERY Rude. As soon as I sat down and we bang to discuss my style she increased the price $100. I'm a college student and couldn't even afford to get my hair done! I wanted long braids and she complained that because she would have to braid them very long she couldn't do it. It was ridiculous I came to the shop for absolutely nothing. A complete waste of my Friday afternoon. I do not recommend this shop for anyone wanting a particular style.

I've been a customer with Uzuri Braids nearly 15 years for both braids and locs and I will never go anywhere else! All stylists are highly skilled and take pride in their work. Friendly and comfortable.
