I can't understand these 5 star ratings. When I went to the VA ER here in Reno, there were already 4 other people, some in obvious distress, sitting in the waiting room. After 6 hours of waiting, NOT ONE PERSON WAS SEEN. While waiting, I discovered that a couple of those people had been there for over 12 hours! That is utterly ridiculous and there is no way to argue it. I have worked in an ER. I fully understand how they are supposed to operate, and if the ER is any indication of the way that hospital operates (which it obviously is) I highly recommend saving yourself some time and not even bothering. I cannot express clearly enough how uncaring, unprofessional, and dismissing the VA ER and it's staff operate.

Carrie from the Reno, VA pharmacy is efficient, patient and articulate. Long story short, I updated my address online before requesting my very important Rx by mail. My Rx (prescription) was sent to my old address.
Carrie sorted this issue our for me, updated my address in the local system, reordered my Rx. Was patient the whole call as I explained my situation and took care of my two creatively spontaneous children. Thank you Carrie!

Been a patient for 4 yrs at Reno VA.
I'm retired medic and medical administrative superintendent.
Have heard terrible stories about other VA facilities.
Reno VA has treated me very good.
Appointments have never been a problem getting.
Sorry, but those giving poor ratings seem like basic crybaby complainers.
I don't and never have worked for VA.

I have had nothing but excellent care and service since using the facility. The staff is friendly and helpful both on the phone and in person. I use a combination of private health services and the VA and in many situations, the VA has provided better, more efficient services. Had similar experiences when I lived in the Bay Area. I think the system overall has some kinks in it but I have not complaints about the facilities I have used.

I was shocked by how great the care was there at the VA when I had to go to the Emergency twice so far. However it seem like the women ER physicians demonstrated better service in listening, diagnosing and rendering service. Most of the Nurses were good too.
