Awesome state park about an hour's drive from our house! The park has some easy trails and some more moderate trails. Breath-taking sights. Fascinating geological and historical information. I especially like descending the steep rugged trail (not for the timid or beginners) at White Dome to the remains of the movie set and then proceeding through the narrows to the open desert to make our way back to the parking area. A much easier hike, and one where we take friends and relatives who are visiting but who do not hike much, is Mouse's Tank. Camping in this park is a great experience, but the sites are first-come, first-serve, so we have succeeded only once in securing a site, but we will keep trying for another overnight camping trip there. The night sky is pretty amazing.

This place is one of the most beautiful places that I have experienced around Vegas. It is only an hour away and such a fun beautiful drive. It is a state park so if you have a national parks pass it doesn't work but it is only $10 per car. You can spend the whole day here and still wouldn't have the time to really absorb all the beauty around. It is a very easy drive and there are many hikes along the road that you can take if you want to explore the beauties up close and personal.

Freaking. Amazing. If you are in the area, probably Vegas, do make the drive out. I rented a car for the day to see this place and Red Rock Canyon. Two days would have been better but I didn't have the time First let me say, I grew up in Florida. I've seen gorgeous beaches, farmland for miles, swamps and our humidity forests. Been all over the south and east coast, even the Appalachian mountains. I've seen volcanoes in other continents, island paradises and some of the most exotic locations you can think of. I had never set foot in a desert or a canyon or anything comparable to this. It took me a good 3 or 5 really long stops along the roads before I got it in my head that there is SO MUCH more to see. It was like I had landed on Mars and some little Star Wars sand people would be creeping out the holes in the rocks. The formations are ancient and colorful. I made it through about 80% of the park roads in about 2 hours, the sun was setting and we had to leave. If the temperatures weren't so insane, I would have been hiking up and down these rocks instead. It's amazingly colorful and picturesque with beautiful winding roads and some good Paleolithic history thrown in. It took a little over an hour to reach here from Vegas but I implore you set aside time to get here.

This is a magnificent area to explore and wander around. It looks like you’re on another planet, with terracotta-colored hills reaching up into the sky. There’s a variety of trails, parking areas and scenic highways to take you among some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. It’s an especially rewarding place to see the sunset and take lots of pictures. We’ll be going back there again and again.

Beautiful rock formations! With the help of wind. Beehive formation is very nice. Park entrance is just 10$ for a private vehicle. What an awesome place to see and experience! It has nice hiking trails. The white dome trail is beautiful. The seven sisters rocks are so amazing.
